    Mimaki JV33-130 Substrate Question

I just purchased this Mimaki printer. I thought I had all my bases covered and asked all the right questions of the seller but now I'm not sure. The person who came for installation and training told us the machine will not print paper only vinyl. We spoke to the sales rep from the seller and...

    Online Ordering

Thanks for your responses. I'm not really looking for a software solution but rather a web based application where someone hosts my PDF templates etc and my customer can log on to place orders. I'm looking to use your website technology and not to incur heavy software charges but rather a user...

    Online Ordering

I need to find a solution where we can can house a number of templates for a client. Ideally they would log on, click the template they want to order, add the quantity details etc and then send it to me for order. I know there are software solutions for this web to print application but I'm...

Need you thoughts on a management decision

They have agreed to take them. In fact they volunteered and will likely still use/sell these until they are sold out. It's not like they are taking them off my hands and throwing them in the garbage. After sleeping on this think I'll discount the whole thing at cost. Thanks for your input

Need you thoughts on a management decision

Please feel free to offer your opinion. I have a client who for 10 years has purchased exactly the same thing from me every month. We were never in a formal contract situation. They would fax a PO to me the third week of every month and by the end of the fourth week of the month we would...

FSC approved paper - YOU CAN'T CALL IT THAT!

I am an FSC certified printer and my understanding is that anyone can use FSC paper but you just can't put the acronym on anything or refer to FSC certifed sheets unless you are certified. You can't put the Coca Cola logo on anything without Cokes permission and this is much the same.

    Booklet Making

Thanks for everyone's input. The way I see this is as long as you have two right angles for your folder you should be able to fold my 16 page signatures (20" x 28" sheet size). I will take your advice about a booklet maker and the "springiness" of the finished piece. I met with another...

    Booklet Making

So I just landed a nice new contract to produce 8500, 64 page self cover books once per month. It's going to be produced on 50lb uncoated text. It needs to be collated, stitched and trimmed in a two day period. It would need to handle 16, 4 page forms. I had a local trade bindery price me at...

    Proofing

I'm new to the digital print world with the aquisition of a KM 6501. We are having great success with it already and think we made the right decision. Coming from the offset world EVERY job gets an Epson hardcopy proof. What is the practice in the digital world? We don't do walk in as we are...

Signing a Deal Today on KM6501

Hey all. I'm not in the digital print world in any kind of significant way now but that's all changing today. I looked at all the usual suspects and in the end I've made a good deal on what I feel is the best machine out there for me. Now the real work of marketing this offering to my present...

    Help with Market Ideas

Let me say first off, that when I have posted here before everyone has been very helpful with responses. I'm hoping it's the same this time as well. I'm about to lease a new KM6501 and feel I've made a good deal with the dealer. Our company is primarily an offset commercial printer that has...

    KM C6501 Registration

I think you should call the tech. After all, that is why you are paying the click charges. Don't be shy about using them

    Supplier/Client Relationships

Didn't know where this thread belongs so i thought I would put it here. Some of you have likely seen this. We've all lived it. YouTube - The Vendor Client relationship - in real world situations It's about supplier/client relationships

    FSC Logo and its usage

We've found that FSC gets you in front of the client. Cost competitiveness gets you the orders. At least with FSC you have a point of uniqueness over some of your competitors. Often that leads questions about other green practices within your company so you need to be prepared with the facts...

    FSC Logo and its usage

We are FSC certified and unfortunately the market doesn't dictate that we can upcharge for FSC. When we first became FSC certified we tried to recoup some of our costs by adding a premium. This just discouraged people from participating because they saw it as being a higher cost. I find people...

    Help with a Production Problem

Problem solved, sorta. We're going to rerun the whole thing. Actually, that isn't exctly true. The guys trying to sell us the KM 6501 are going to test their machine for us by running this job. They know I'm reselling it so I don't feel too sleazy about it. Thanks for your replies. I'm...

    Help with a Production Problem

We have a problem we need to solve right away. We have printed a job that is for only about 1110 pieces. Its CMYK over black. We printed the CMYK offset because of the image difficulties and then varnished it for protection. Today I'm trying to print the variable on the back side and it's...

    VDP Software Question

Probably been asked a billion times but I'll ask it again. We are entering the production digital toner based world with what is likely to be a KM 5500 or 6501. To get our feet wet we want to look at a very inexpensive software to allow us to do things like addressing postcards, sequential...

Test Driving DI Presses Next Week

Happy Printer, thank you so much. This is exactly the type of logical thinking I like. I think I'm sold on DI but I really need to give it some challenges to see if it performs as well as I've been led to believe. I really like waterless and 300 lpi. Because it's different than a conventional...
