Test Driving DI Presses Next Week

I really like waterless. I really like the 300 lpi capabilities. I really like FM screening capabilities. I really think buying a traditional offset press doesn't differentiate me from any of my competitors. In my market, waterless and 300 lpi / FM screening does.

Test Driving DI Presses Next Week

Thanks Mechanic. I completely understand the relationship between Presstek and Ryobi. Your input is very much appreciated. I'm gonna try 'em all 'cause you gotta kiss a lot of frogs before you find your prince.

    Help Me Understand

Thanks X33. I appreciate the links. Thanks for taking the time. I'm more interested, however, in the logistics of how the production aspect is done. I think I already know the benefits of VDP. I really want to know what I need to know to get into that business.

    Help Me Understand

Hi Everyone. Before I ask my question, I just want to say that I've discovered Print Planet recently and it is one of the best resources ever. Thanks.....whomever you are. I want to learn about VDP print and I need to start from the very beginning to get a handle on this. I KNOW NOTHING...

Test Driving DI Presses Next Week

Next week I'll be testing a few different DI presses and I'm wondering if it's moral/ethical/doable for some of you to provide me with test files that I can give to the companies to show me what their machines can do. I'm looking at Ryobi. Heidelberg (used) and Presstek. All of you know the...

    Test Driving Next Week

Next week I'll be testing a few different printers and I'm wondering if it's moral/ethical/doable for some of you to provide me with test files that I can give to the companies to show me what their machines can do. I'm looking at Xerox, KM and Canon. These will not be copiers but rather...

    Konica Minolta 6501

Just for budgetary purposes, how much does a KM 6500 run. Say basic machine without add on modules such as a finisher etc. US $ would be nice.

    Spot UV Coating

Thanks for the info and the links. Looks like a great machine but likely outside of my budget (Isn't that always the way?!?!?) I did download and print out (gasp!) your brochure and it's now in my research folder. You never know. Thanks again for the info

    Production Scheduling Procedure

For what it's worth we use exactly the same system (pegboard and tags). For us it's a very quick visual reference for every job in the shop and where they stand. We've tried lots of other things but always come back to this very manual (and archaic) method. I guess it comes down to what your...

    Spot UV Coating

Hi everyone. I really value everyone's opinions and whenever I've asked I've always received thoughtful answers so I would like opinions on a spot UV coater. We all know it's very difficult to find something unique in our industry nowadays. Everyone runs essentially the same equipment and...

    Solid Printing on Envelope Flaps

Hey everyone. I have a project to do where I have a #1o open end envelope that has printing on the face and full solid printing on the flap. - I can't print as flat sheets and the convert into envelopes because the converter can't hold registration tight enough to get the edge of the solid to...

    I need some sound advice

I really appreciate everyone's quick and thoughtful responses. I agree with the sentiment that being a traditional printer that this will certainly be a huge adjustment to what we do and how we do it. I''m not completely sold on any particular technology. CMYK mentioned about a used DI and...

We operate a Palladio 30 with a LP 82 Ultra Processing Unit in the last month the amount of finisher it has been using has dramatically increased. It used to take 3-4 weeks to fill the holding tank but now it fills in 3 days. I should add that this has just started to happen in the last few...

    I need some sound advice

Hi everyone. First timer here so please be gentle. I own a very traditional commercial offset printing company. We've been in business since the late sixties and have enjoyed some very successful years. Because of this we haven't been very enthusiastic about fixing what ain't broke. Over the...
