Quality Inks for SM74+L in Canada

You know, now that you mention the name I'm pretty sure I have also tried their stuff several years ago at the previous company I worked for. I liked the colour it produced, pretty consistently.. but couldn't make it work for me. It's worth a try! thanks for the info

Quality Inks for SM74+L in Canada

I've used, over the years, inks from Sun, Hostmann (the old sprinter 3, rapida, reflecta and resista) Innovation and now using Saphira PR100 Plus medium tack directly from Heidelberg. I'm really not loving the inks anymore and find they just don't provide the same level of rub resistance they...

    2006 SM74 roller chillers

Does anyone here have extensive knowledge of the Technotrans Alpha-C found on the 2006 Heidelberg SM74 (4+L)? Specifically, I am trying to figure out why the pump that powers the roller chillers continually faults and stops pumping. I get the error "F070 - T-Circ. Water Lack" and the pump ceases...

I removed those two outside stops on my press and it immediately fixed the issue! Thank you!!

2006 SM74 damaging the corners of 19x25 press sheets

I will have to look into both of these things and see what I can figure out. thanks for the info! As for running off centre, I will have to look into really off-centring a few forms to see if that can be figured out if this doesn't work. The owner isn't keen on the idea.

2006 SM74 damaging the corners of 19x25 press sheets

A third party tech has also suggested this but we didn't try it as everything we print needs to be centred on the sheet. Unless there is a setting i'm un aware of? (i've only run this press for 2 years, prior to that i ran a 300 manroland for 11 years and it was a much different infeed)

2006 SM74 damaging the corners of 19x25 press sheets

The press is a 2006 Speedmaster SM74. The press itself runs great and the feed seems bullet-proof, except this issue we seem to have on 19x25" sheets. It happens on all text weights (and happens less frequently on anything heavier then 80# gloss or 70# uncoated text) The corner of the sheet...

Do you shut your presses down during lunch?

Well, coming from a smaller company.. we DO have lunch breaks IF we want them provided we don't stop mid run. We run an sm74, an older MO (25"?) and some smaller stuff so its not like we have helpers or tenders/feeders. While I spent 11 years at another company that made me eat while I worked...

Axis Control issues on '06 SM74-4

First let me start by saying the press has been installed for about year now and I've been operating it for about 9 of those months. I spent 11 years prior to that at another company operating a Manroland 305 and so this is my first experience with an SM74 (previous experience on Heidelberg is...

    question about spray powder setting

after over 10 years of using the same powder, we've come into far too many issues lately and decided to try out different slightly larger size powder. we've decided to move from a 25-30 micron to a 30-35 size. our roland 300 has a graphix hitronic S unit and the throat at the "hopper" for the...

    who is using Flint inks?

cant recall which VanSon we tried. i think it was the VS3. where can i get Superior inks in canada? i'd be willing to try the biolocity. ive actually heard good things about that one. it seems like there's entirely too many options. seigwerk canada is actually somewhat local to me. we used to...

    who is using Flint inks?

as i said in my initial post, we've tried inks from them. we didn't have very good results. They insisted it was the best series for our needs but didn't run very well at all. it was the diamond series. i dont know, it may be worth a second look, but i'm hesitant.

    who is using Flint inks?

I've been trying to figure out a new ink-set to try for the last few months. In general we aren't very happy with our current inks from H/S. They were great for the longest time, but within the last year or so have had real issues with batch consistency and issues with dry times. According to...

sheets not forwarding on manroland 300

my press has an intermittent problem where it will sometimes not forward sheets through the feeder. i'm not really sure what else to do at this point. occasionally, while starting a new job it will just refuse to grab and forward a sheet out into the feed table. pickup suckers work fine but...

Really? Didn't know unisourse carried them. I spoke to Michael Keegan at toyo and he said the only place to get them in Canada was trough presstek. I'll check out unisource then. Thanks!

What do you pay your pressman?

DI stands for Direct Imaging. which means it images the plates right on press, *perfect* register. everything else is the same as a regular press

What do you pay your pressman?

tell me you are smarter than that... it's just an expression. if you want to pay your operator crap wages, dont expect great results. you wont get experianced guys. just out of curiosity, what kind of press is it? you wont get a 5 or 6 or 8 colour 28" or up pressman to even turn on a small...

    ideal durometer for metering roller?

i looked at it. i use the same length of metering roller as was originally installed in the press, which is roughly .75in longer than the inkers. also, my pan roller osculates so a collar on the end of the roller would not work.

    ideal durometer for metering roller?

hate to bring back an old thread.. but still having some issues with scum in the center of the plate and flooding on the ends. im wondering, is there such a thing as negative crown on a metering roller? say if i wanted the center of the roller to be slightly smaller in diameter than the ends...
