    Board Above the Feeder

just a fancy holder for mis-fed sheets :D seriously though, it's likely used as a dust guard to keep any settling dust/debris off of the stack when the press is running... and a fancy sheet holder

    movement during run

well, i finally figured it out and have to schedule a service call tomorrow when i get to work. turns out one of the grippers on the perfecting cylinders straight printing gripper bar, had somehow come off of it's spring-loaded guide rod. it seemed pretty normal looking and even felt normal...

    movement during run

well, great. still having this issue with unit 2. tried to run some 19x25 70# uncoated (483x634 104gsm) and ran into some nasty doubling again. same thing, only in unit 2. i could run at 12,000sph but any faster than that (even 100 over) and it would start to double really badly.. (actually...

    KBA 106 Makeready Champion

lets not forget, in order to actually get times like that in a production environment on a regular day to day basis, you need an operator (and helper i guess) that is really in sync with the machine and know what to do.

    Tap water vs RO

we use tap water in our presses. we've never had issues. are your operators using the same chemestry settings (percentages or oz/gal) as with the ro water? if so, i suggest they play with percentages of chemicals they are using.

Any UV pressmen out there? Help!

is that a uv specific fountain solution? if not, i've had very good luck with anchor from fuji. the emerald jrb etch and ars-61 additive. we dont print uv, but this etch is zero voc's and zero glycol and is compatible with uv. also has calcium control properties. instead of the ars-61, you...

    interesting issue with impression

heh well, getting my manager on board for a service call is not working too well. i've been complaining about alot of little things over the last few weeks and i think he's a little overwhelmed by me wanting so many little things fixed at once, now add this cylinder issue to the mix... also...

    interesting issue with impression

i think it's similar to the heidelberg like you mention, with solenoids actuating the pnumatics. i've got a button for manually throwing on and off the impression at each unit, but nothing on the solenoids themselves. i'll have to dig into it today when i get to work. i wish we had an in house...

anyone using the mag-in or cut-in systems from WSD?

ah i see what you mean. our transfers and impressions are a textured composition and not smooth/chromed. i've always assumed it was because of the perfector, you guys are definitly right. i'll have to look into this today before they go ahead and waste $7000+ on the mag-in :p 67 drake, thats...

anyone using the mag-in or cut-in systems from WSD?

ours will be going on the 5th unit before the coater, but we have a perfector after unit 2. i dont understand how they would interfere with one another.
