Bob, Sorry I couldn't be more help. If you get an answer outside this site, could you post the information here? IF (the BIG if) I ever get on a newer Heidelberg, that information would be useful.

You could also mention possible gripper problems, too much back pressure.

    ductor roller temp control.

I'm confused. If the operators were having no problem at 2.5%, why would they increase it to 5%? I believe the ink man was telling you that you needed no alcohol, not that you needed to increase it to more than 4%. Well, maybe he was if he is selling alcohol to you.

Altering duct profiles for CPC 1-04

I worked on a 93 model and I don't know if they made any changes. We were working with tapes from a plate scanner, but maybe the process is the same. On your console, you should see functions listed in black and in blue. To use the blue ones, you need to press the Function button and then press...

    UV vs Conventional Printing

I've been a folding carton guy my whole life. The plant where I worked never printed with UV and we rarely printed on anything exotic such as foil or poly-faced board. Recently there was a printer in my area with an opening, but they make gift cards on PVC with UV inks and coatings. Because...

What are you wanting to do? Are the profiles setting the keys so that the density is either always too light or too heavy?

    Improving the Original

Yesterday I got an email from Overstock.com as part of their regular promotions. Within the message about clearance bedding and exercise equipment was a short dissertation on Pantone with a photo of an opened Pantone swatch book. There was then a link to this year's Pantone Color of the Year...

Dead print Dead print Well, until you can use an iPad to hold cereal, I don't think print will be dead. And until they add a way to include free samples, I don't think it will totally kill off commercially printed mailings. I'm sure it will have some effect. But just remember, TV never killed...

Anyone familiar with the Mitsubishi line of presses?

The kind of stock that is being run makes a big difference too. I had a CD102 that I often ran at its max of 13000 iph, but there were some odd reverse grain, narrow sheets that we were lucky to get 9000 iph.

    Tales of breakage!

An extra roller An extra roller Anybody ever work on a Roland 800? One night I was checking the ink level in a lower level fountain when I had to do a double-take. I could see an extra roller in the unit! Well, it wasn't really a roller. If you worked on these presses, you might remember that...

    Ink tack

Your ink supplier can run a test to determine tack. If you are running out of kits, it should be printed on the label because ink tack is important when determining ink rotations.

    Heidelberg CD102 6col - Grip Issue

One more thing to point out, sometimes the servo motors stop working for the front lays. I know that on the older presses, if they couldn't establish their zero points that the numbers would flash on the monitor. We always had ours set on 11,00 but there were times they would move or get moved...

    Heidelberg CD102 6col - Grip Issue

But the question again is, has anyone checked to make sure the front lays are correctly set and that the plate cylinders are at their zero point? There is something different between the two presses. Fix the press that is wrong.

Heidelberg & Komori pass on Graph Expo 2010; KBA, manroland and Presstek to exhibit

I guess the thing they would need to do is make the new machines so much more efficient and dependable than previous models. The problem is that you would probably have to retrain all the press operators. I wouldn't be surprised if we lose a couple of press manufacturers in the next year or two.

    Heidelberg CD102 6col - Grip Issue

Front Lays? Front Lays? Also have the operator or mechanic check to make sure that the front lays on the infeed are set properly.
