difference between ctp platesetter and processor

You can purchase the units individual or together. You don't necessarily need a processor with a ctp system if you run chem free plates. Simply image the plate on your ctp and develope it on your press. We run fuji chem free and have great success.

Best Printer for $150k or less

Also a side note. I wouldn't take a 900 (not the 901) if they gave it to me.

Best Printer for $150k or less

Printing656. Sorry for the late reply. I have been out of town. As for the 901 vs. 900 as Joe stated there is a world of difference between the 2 machines. Our 901 has had no issues in running 20# bond at all. The only issues we have had with it is holding big solids on gloss cover. But as...

    Customer Complaint

You'd better listen to Gordo. This is a situation that we see once in awhile. In spite of all our efforts to get the customer to read the proof carefully, seems like occasionally something sneaks by. Work with them. Split the difference. Happy customer = long term customer + referals.$$$$

Best Printer for $150k or less

Guide to Buying New Digital Equipment

RC, when you gave your case of paper to your different vendors to try to match press color did you stay and watch them do it as to make sure they were producing it on the machine that you were interested in and not some higher end model for better color. I like your post and criteria on...

Is the "Cloud" important to your company?

The one downside I see to the "Cloud" is this. When I purchase a program such as Adobe CS? I can use it as long as I want until I decide to upgrade, several years perhaps. But with cloud technology, Adobe can force me to upgrade every year or not allow me access to my CS programs unless I do...

    freakin' 700!!!

Sorry to hear your still having trouble with your 700's. I'm about ready to send this 901 back to Ikon but am not real sure what machine I would replace it with. Originally thought about the 700 but after hearing all the reports on it, I'm very hesitant to even consider it know. I love the...

    Quark Memorial Service

We used Quark for years and were very happy, then, I believe it was the release of Quark 7. Tech support was horrible, Quark basically told us to take a flying leap when it came to resolving any issues. Couldn't understand any of the tech support people very well. Switched to adobe and have...

    Xpedx Stores Division Closing

Xpedx doubles earnings! Sounds like they are an ideal candidate for federal subsidies.

    Complaint about letterheads

Alu, Now I didn't say that I have been able to keep up the profits. Haven't been able to figure that out yet.

    Complaint about letterheads

We have run letterhead on our offsets for almost 30 yrs. with no issues. As for as no profits, keep thinking that and send me your "no profit" letterhead jobs. I'll run them all day long.

    Xpedx Stores Division Closing

BIG DAVE, THAT IS AMAZING!!!! Talk about not being able to sleep at night. Im going to have to find out Kodak's secret. I could only imagine what would happen if I were to be over 30 days late with my monthly payment to Xpedx. Unfortunately in the SLC area there is a main Xpedx warehouse and...

    Ricoh c901s

Just a quick update on our ongoing 901 issues. It would seem that after a teleconference with techs around the US and Ricoh people in Japan that most 901's are experiencing the same issues as we are having. They decided to change out the Cyan and Magenta developer units to see if that would...

Polyester plates printed on Laser printers

Years ago we ran a few Smart plates for our Ryobi 3200's using a HP 5000 and they ran pretty well. Like BT said, be sure your using OEM HP.

    Xpedx Stores Division Closing

I agree with Craig. Xpedx has always, in our area, been known as "expect less, pay more." In the SLC area they closed down 2 great stores, Western Paper and Zellerbach paper and consolidated all into XpedX. What a mistake that has been. Unfortunately International Paper closed the wrong...

Expert Opinion Needed on New Printer for Neophyte

UR. It would seem that you took great offense on the suggestions given you. No reason to. We were just stating fact on past experience that we have seen other individuals in your type of situation go thru. Just because a plan looks good on paper does not always mean it will turn out that way...

    Epson inkjet CTP 7900

Glad to hear that the plates are improving. As I stated I still like the technology as long as they can get the plates right.

    Epson inkjet CTP 7900

Be careful with the inkjet CTP system. We had a VIM system which used the Epson 7900. We finally, after a year of trying to get rid of spots and premature plate wear, had to send the system back. Didn't matter what we did or what VIM recommended the spotting issue was always there and we...
