Getting double clicks with 13 x 26 sheet on V3100

Some printers can register a 19" as 1 click, but it apparently messes up the service guys as the count is incorrect. The manufactures spec yields off of a letter size click. So technically a 19 is registered 2 clicks and a banner is registered as 4 clicks. How it is billed is dependent on your...

    Care to Quote???

Paper and printing is around $1.5 per book.. The rest boils down to the cost of labor.. Which is why automation is destroying the mom and pops.

    KM 1075 / 1085 vs. Xerox Versant 80 vs Ricoh C7100

This is great to hear. We've run millions on the KM line and never had major problems. We just installed the KM C6100 with banner drawer(29") and IQ. Fully automated front/back registration and color control. It takes under 90 seconds to dial a new sheet in. Also loving the new flat toner.

    PDFToolbox Alternatives

Too bad each connector can't simply monitor a hot folder. Having multiple droplets is confusing . It is a good value at the price though.

Right, missed that. There is the cheaper alternative connect you.

Can I create a curve adjustment in Acrobat Pro DC?

I just discovered Enfocus's offerings can do this. I did a test and the curve was applied to both images and text objects alike.

Can I create a curve adjustment in Acrobat Pro DC?

Quick and dirty would be to rasterize it to high resolution image in Photoshop and apply a curves.

Saddle Stitch booklet maker for a small shop

I sold an SPF 10 for $1500 so I think it's easy with in your budget to find a used one. Wouldn't even think about running an 80 PG on a booklet maker. You really need to do this two passes on a real saddle stitch or the stitches will tear through the cover. Or perfect bind it.

    Industry Bleed Standard

Per wiki "Bleeds in the US generally are 1/8 of an inch from where the cut is to be made". I use .1" / 2.5MM a lot as the gutter = .2" /5mm. I think it's easy when you're equipment is both metric and standard.

    sample ppf file

There is no bleed definition. The only way I see PPF being used is to place each element as a cut block with it's finished dimensions as the block size. I have not tested this, but I think if you were to make the block size the area used by your step and repeat (location/size after it would be 4...

    Ricoh C9110 recommendations

Price depends on how good of a negotiator you are. I would say if you've got a hungry sales guy who needs numbers for his quarter it could be had around the 6 figure mark (+- 10% or +20 or +30). We decided on the Konica C6100. The Intelligent Quality Optimizer plus the dedicated 29" feed drawer...

Should I buy my own equipment?

So you quoted .35, but it's really .035 per. Also if the paper is 14Mil then it is 400M/100LB Lynx (not cheap paper). At this price it would not be worth you purchasing equipment as on the digital front you couldn't save much. And what ever you saved you would lose 10 fold running a print operation.

    Estimating offset printing cost

There you have it. Heidelberg CS 92 for 680K (plus CTP system cost) and .025 per 24x36. With 8 signatures up you only need 9 runs. With a total of 31500 impressions per job your approx imp cost would be $800. I guess Heidelberg is throwing in ink too? But running three jobs a month only puts the...

    Estimating offset printing cost

The way I see it you could save 75k on clicks by using the volume to drive down your overall contract. It's not a lose because volume and efficiency go hand in hand. In any case it sounds like you have a very fair price currently with your trade printer @ .024 per 4/4 letter sheet including...

    Estimating offset printing cost

I'm assuming you meant hours, not days. I highly doubt the shop you're taking it to is turning a completed job in 21 hours. You're click cost is double what it should be. Even if you went with a small press you're going to be burning plates for 21 hours straight.. no way will you bring in a 29"...

    Estimating offset printing cost

Market is pretty aggressive for just straight printing. Cost is not the only factor to bring things in house. Turn time, quality control etc etc. I'm sure part of that cost is labor related for the booklet making. I'm surprised you don't just add an inline booklet maker and go digital with it...

    Addressing software - IMb codes

We use Accuzip extensively. It seems like it's from 1993, but hidden under that old archaic gui is some real power! It is very friendly if you are into templates and scripting. The scripting has allowed us to create a streamlined hot folder system that is tied to scripts that do some amazing...

    Varnish Over Toner

Does it scar where there is no toner? I don't think I've ever seen this unless the UV coating is really thick. Is the UV varnish designed for the Ricoh engine?
