    VDP Options

Meadows is more expensive initially, but over time it is cheaper. When we purchased it there was a discount available for people switching from a competitor that made the deal a no-brainer even if it wasn't a better fit for us and so much faster.

    VDP Options

It is about 50/50 with us. We just drop the PDFs into InDesign now.

    Price Increases and Customer Outrage...

We had agreed to that pricing in the Fall of 2024 and had agreed to revisit pricing 1 year later. At the time, there had been some big shakeups at the company, and we were pretty aggressive with our pricing. They also had been taking advantage of the situation by saying they wanted the price for...

    Price Increases and Customer Outrage...

We have dealt with them for well over a decade, but they have recently been doing massive expansion and downsizing staff while increasing automation. They fired their outside marketing company and brought that in-house and are trying to cut costs and increase productivity any way they can. They...

    Price Increases and Customer Outrage...

That would be ideal, but they are wanting to lock in prices until June of 2027. We asked the client for a quote from another cheaper competitor to make sure they were quoting the same specs and they said they never share quotes.

    Price Increases and Customer Outrage...

We are a tiny print shop that has gone 90% digital and with costs increasing drastically the past few years we are raising prices. Our largest client has an agreement with us to lock in their prices for 1 years periods, so we updated those last week. We got angry phone calls from their marketing...

Imposing Software for Printing on A3 or SRA3 Sheets

We use Impose and Compose with a perpetual license on the newest CWS. Works just fine. The problem with it is that you can't do Dutch-cuts.

    VDP Software Switch Experience...

I wanted to share my experience after recently switching from FusionPro to Meadows DesignMerge Pro. I have only run 7 jobs through it so far, but I must say I am very impressed. I just finished outputting a PDF/VT file from DMP with about 6,000 records, making a 12,000-page PDF. This took 1...

    VDP Options

After years of running FusionPro, we just switched to Meadows DesignMerge. FusionPro was solid, but slow, and the fact that it kept Acrobat tied up while working was frustrating. So far, Meadows DesignMerge is much faster, and since it is in InDesign, it is more user-friendly. Extremely happy...

I got emails today saying that the Printersplan cloud version was having issues because of AWS outages.

    Online Linotype Linotronic Info...

I remember sitting there praying that it would go to ..3 on the RIP after ..1 and ..2, instead of going back to 0.

    Online Linotype Linotronic Info...

I was watching some videos on YouTube the other night about old computers and got to looking online for information about Linotronics and the RIPS, such as when the various models were released, etc. I was quite surprised by how little information I could find. I at least figured there would be...

    Plockmatic Fold Position Consistency...

I haven't checked extensively, but 3 different jobs with 2, 3, and 7 signatures all had the issue. I ran one with a 10pt cover and creased it on our press, and then hand fed it into the plock. Doing that fixed the issue, but of course that is a much more aggressive crease.

Ricoh c7500 after 8 years of using a xerox versant 2100

Our 7500 can bleed on 3 sides. The tech didn't know it did it and seemed like he thought it shouldn't do it.

    New Ricoh Pro c7500 launches

The only complaint is the software bugs. Still not totally resolved. They have it working, but still has bugs that annoy you and require resets every so often. The last engine software update actually made things worse. At this point, I have learned most of the quirks and shutting the machine...

    New Ricoh Pro c7500 launches

If anything, it is a little bit worse at refolding.

    New Click Rates - 2025

We signed on ours a year ago, and it was .03 for 13x19 clicks with no guaranteed volume.

    Plockmatic Fold Position Consistency...

Our Plockmatic 350 from 2019 has recently started folding inconsistently. We had the tech here once so far and he calibrated the length jogger and said you can't expect perfection, even though it has been very consistent up until now. What we are experiencing is that all stocks, coated...

    Brochure Folding ?

This is a good example of something that has always bothered me. Like you said brochures seem to be extremely cheap almost like the folding and creasing are not charged for from the trade printers. Most look pretty good, but we have one client that wouldn't accept that quality of fold because of...

    Printers Plan and customer data

They have assured us that the local version isn't going away anytime soon and we keep getting updates for it. Even if they end support we can still keep using it for a long time. We have redundancy on our computers, but our internet goes down every so often. I like local files and it is cheaper...
