    Square back booklets

How many offer square back booklets? Is it an up-charge or just an added benefit of using your shop? We're a small retail shop without space for a large, dedicated booklet maker and run 10k+ booklets a year off our small ImagePress. Needless to say the booklets aren't flat and tricky to...

Printing 24x36 PDF's in Acrobat Pro

Actually, no. That might make it easier. I'm running a Canon IPF825 with no rip. Is there any way to store page size in a printer preset through Acrobat? On a mac the page size and printer preferences are in different places which is a bit annoying.

Printing 24x36 PDF's in Acrobat Pro

This is driving me nuts.. What's the best way to send large prints to the printer? I'm on a mac and open drawings in Acrobat Pro. I have print presets set, but they won't save the page size -- so I have to set 24x36 every time. I don't know if it's different on a Windows box but I click...

    Blueprints and House Plans

We print engineering prints daily. While we don't print enough to justify a dedicated Oce unit, it's a great source of revenue and one we would like to continue growing. Currently we use a Canon iPF825 MFP M40. This machine also does all our wide-format work (minus fine art and outdoor) and...

Pricing jobs - one product, multiple versions...

Gotcha. We're all digital so plates aren't an issue for us. Would you also charge for addition pre-press, collating, and packaging for multiple sets?

Pricing jobs - one product, multiple versions...

So then if a customer wants 5 sets of 250 business cards each, you would charge for a quantity of 1250? And you would also add for additional pre-press, collating, and packaging? So total print quantity plus your typical labor rates to cover additional time spent? (I'm still trying to find...

Pricing jobs - one product, multiple versions...

Simple question, but.. What's the standard practice when a customer wants multiple sets of a single product using different files for each set, such as business cards or rack cards? Do you bill each set as a new line item at full price? Do you bill each set as a new line item at a discounted...

Adjusting the bleed size in PitStop Pro

That's awesome, thanks! I just tried it and it's adding .79" to each dimension but I think I may have figured that out. Under Action Lists -> Set marks and clean up trim area, the bleed box has been changed to 9pt, but the media box is still 28pt. It looks like if I change them both to 9pt it...

Adjusting the bleed size in PitStop Pro

I'm still an advanced beginner when it comes to PitStop. So no, I don't do very much that isn't already setup.

Adjusting the bleed size in PitStop Pro

I basically use two versions of that action -- one with color corrections and one without. Then I use the edit feature to remove crop marks, and then resize the page boxes to original size + 0.25" bleed and center. Would be nice to not have to do those extra actions. We also use Web Coated...

Adjusting the bleed size in PitStop Pro

For instance it turns an 8.5x11 page into 9.29 x 11.79. I'd rather be left with an 8.75 x 11.25 page (0.25" bleed). Crop marks aren't necessary as fiery impose can add them for me.

Adjusting the bleed size in PitStop Pro

Hi all, I use the "Just make my Office PDF work!" profile fairly often. The only problem is the bleed setting doesn't match what we use here - 0.25" (or 0.125" per side). How can I change that so I don't need to change the page boxes afterwards? Thanks, Joe

Quick Printers - Walk-ins, turnaround times, rush charges, etc..

That is correct, but I think the requirements will be a bit higher than just a counter person. When contractors walk in with blueprints they will need an understanding of Acrobat to combine PDF's and convert tricky ones to images, print to the large format printers, use Command Workstation and...

Quick Printers - Walk-ins, turnaround times, rush charges, etc..

Thanks for the replies. My question is more geared towards handling walk-in customers when we have a back log of jobs, and are actively working on projects. Naturally we have to stop what we're doing to talk to them, but do we let them jump the queue and spend 10-15 minutes with them while our...

Quick Printers - Walk-ins, turnaround times, rush charges, etc..

Hi all, We had a busy Staples copy & print shop in town that closed two years ago when corporate did away with their smaller store. We decided to take their place as an independent printer with myself and one employee. The busier we get, the more difficult we're finding it to handle job...

Duplo 616 Pro & Fiery Impose Job Templates?

I don't know for sure. There is a template for it but I had trouble making it work. There's a section in the manual stating which jobs are possible and which aren't. If your finished piece is too small and too close to the bottom of the sheet it's considered waste and is cut up. There may be...

Duplo 616 Pro & Fiery Impose Job Templates?

Hi Justin, Thanks for the reply. I agree that the 646 is a better machine, I just couldn't justify the jump in price -- we're just a two man shop. Most of what we do is short to medium runs. I just finished 1750 5x7 folded cards on the 616 and the customer insisted on .125" top/bottom safety...

Duplo 616 Pro & Fiery Impose Job Templates?

True. There is a learning curve though and it seems we are all spending countless hours building the same templates over and over again. It would be much more efficient for new buyers to have access to pre-built template combos. We are all re-inventing the wheel... Heck, it took me three...

Duplo 616 Pro & Fiery Impose Job Templates?

On paper, yes, it's that easy. However there are some gotchas. Starting straight from impose and building Duplo jobs off that printed sheet doesn't always work. Lead / side edges may be invalid sizes, gutters may be invalid sizes or too large/small and deflectors can't drop waste into bin, if...

Duplo 616 Pro & Fiery Impose Job Templates?

Hi all, I just received a new toy - a Duplo 616 Pro. I'd love to automate my workflow now with fiery imposition and matching Duplo jobs. Does anyone have any Fiery impose templates with matching Duplo jobs? I'm trying to figure it all out, but it's frustrating. Depending upon the job...
