    dot gain pattern

Hello Maks. Few questions here that perhaps you can shed some light on - 1 - What are you using to validate or verify that your calibration is correct? Are you using a software program (similar to Curve4, Curve+) to validate your curves? 2 - Are you aiming for Gray (G7) or targeting TVI only...

Screen Equios - How To Generate Plate Curves

Thanks for the reply. The workflow is actually made by Screen and called Equios, not Equinox by Esko. Totally different workflow.

Screen Equios - How To Generate Plate Curves

Would anyone be familiar with Equios and be able to provide a quick step by step in how to apply plate curves once created?

    Equios Info

I've created curves for many different shops on various workflows (Prinergy, Colorflow, Navigator, Apogee, XMF....few others). Does any have a step by step sheet on how apply curves in Equios once created? I'd appreciate your input.

    Dotgain compensation

    Your statement is 100% accurate.

    Dotgain compensation

Perhaps I should have been more specific, ICC profiles are geared more towards digital devices (proofing, wide-format, or even a color printer). You don't create Press Dot Gain curves in either the Offset or Flexo world with an ICC Profile and only an ICC.

    Dotgain compensation

Dot Gain Curves are generally for the press. An ICC Profile is to force the proofing system to replicate the printed piece(s) once calibrated.

    Very Large Format Spectrophotometer

I've actually worked with a 3rd party software company that specializes in closed loupe systems and have personally dealt with their US rep. I've assisted my customers with piecing together closed loupe consoles and can personally vouch for them. If you have a functioning scanner but just...

    Very Large Format Spectrophotometer

Have you tried contacting your local X-Rite regional rep? Usually the larger scanners are tied into the console.

    4over Issues

McDonald's doesn't settle well with me. Step up the fast food and at least try In and Out. Maybe that's just a California thing, lol.

    Aqueous lines

What type of coater do you have on press? Is it roller or Anilox? You can minimize the streaks by doing a 180 on the sheet and running it back through, just to save the job. In the meantime, please provide the press and coater type information for a better technical response/advice.

    4over Issues

Technology has promoted push button skills, certainly. That said, on press you still have to set rollers properly, tighten a blanket, know coating viscosities (UV or AQ), understand ink and water balance. If you don't experience press checks in your shop and compare print to proof, this...

    4over Issues

I actually am an ink vendor that services plenty of shops from both technical and a service stand point (Color calibrations on press and proofing). Do you really think that the operator in a "Gang Run" shop really pays attention to detail and quality to the extent a commercial or packing...

    4over Issues

I hate to tell you but it's "Gang Run" printing. You can't go to McDonalds and expect to receive a 5 Star Steak... Your best shot would be to find a smaller size shop (1/2 Size) and source the paper yourself if the volume justifies it. That way, you're just paying for the presstime.

    uv printing technique

If the Dyne level of the stock is adequate, Why not run the Opaque White and Lamp, then Process or PMS on top? That's 1 pass vs. 3 passes that you described.

    uv printing technique

Before you start the project, have you measured the Dyne level of the Foil? Wet trapping Opaque White and then trying to put Process ontop without lamping the White generally never works out. Assuming the Dyne Level is adequate (38 or above), I’d run the white and lamp, put the process or spot...

    De-foaming agent

The foaming issues can also be caused by residual solvent being flushed back into your water after washing up. Talk to your fountain solution supplier as they all will carry an Anti-Foam that can be added to the water.

    Yellow ink contamination?

Correct, it’s set up very much like a flexo press with an anilox roller. You can still control density based on temperature. That density .90 is actually really low for a gloss coated sheet. That very well maybe the difference in between the devices and the filters on it (Status T, etc.) or...

    Yellow ink contamination?

Coincidently, I have a shop that has no clue about press color calibration but expects me (the ink company) to fix their yellow contamination issue. When running really low densities of the Yellow (Average .90 - .92) on a coated sheet, obviously standard ink film is compromised. It will pick up...
