One CMYK-profile to rule them all?

FOGRA39 is already replaced by FOGRA51. But the approach you are using with one single CMYK-profile towards your customers is the same (I think) as how ECI and Fogra would like FOGRA53 to be used. Make it easier for the designer/print buyer but a little bit harder for the printer.

One CMYK-profile to rule them all?

I'm guessing you meant to say "before printing"? I'm also wondering what the advantage are, thats why I created this post. I'm not sold yet. Fogra says: "The advantage of using a CMYK-based exchange colour space is that the complete design takes place in a single colour space. Colour...

One CMYK-profile to rule them all?

This might not be interesting for people in the US but... ...a few weeks ago ECI (European Color Inititive) together with Fogra and GMG released a new icc-profile based on Fogra 53 - the eciCMYK.icc. http://www.eci.org/en/colourstandards/workingcolorspaces...

Adobe, Pantone and their &%(#& LaB values!

Since you are converting from Lab to CMYK, the rendering method is really important. You will get different results if you toggle between relative with bpc, perceptual and absolute conversion. Often when I convert Lab to CMYK I start with an absolute conversion and then proof it.

How do I explain to a client that a CMYK value is not an actual color?

We do a lot of print work for clients like ad agencys and design agencys. We are printing and proofing accordingly to Fogra51 and Fogra52 (sheetfed offset and digital printing F51). We even run certification program which assure that we are printing according to ISO 12647-2:2013. Now and then...

    ∆E 2000 vs ∆E CIELAB 1976 (skin tones)

I got this input from Juergen at GMG (I hope he doesn't mind me sharing) - "Several researches have shown that in fact, the DE2000 formula is the closest to our perception. With 12647-7:2016 tolerances for the verification have been lowered in order to get an average comparable pass/fail, if...

Thanks Stephen, your results is quite similar to mine (just a -+0,5 diff).

Interesting Stephen, can you do the same experiment on the other patches? There is a URL to the PDF in my original post.

    ∆E 2000 vs ∆E CIELAB 1976 (skin tones)

You can find the DeltaE values in the attached photo in my first post. I did not record the actual Lab-values.

    ∆E 2000 vs ∆E CIELAB 1976 (skin tones)

Yes, exactly. Wouldn't that result in a higher ∆E value in skin tones thats deviates in hue compared to ∆E76?

    ∆E 2000 vs ∆E CIELAB 1976 (skin tones)

Hi, for years we have been using ∆E CIELAB 1976 calculation when measure color deviation on print and proofs (and displays sometimes). A year ago I was on a seminar with a color specialist from GMG who talked about ∆E 2000 as a successor of the old 1976 formula. He said that one of the...

    Achieving accurate proofs question

Hi David I'm interested to know your definition of the word "matches"? We are printing accordingly to ISO 12647-2 and when we are inside the tolerances (∆E) of this standard of both print and proof we have a match. Visually the proof and the print matches. It does not look exactly the same in...
