    Plato Staggered Cut

Hey Plato users, We're trying to use staggered cut, and it seems to work fine for normal colors, but it does not seem to work for technical colors. Any ideas on how to make it work for technicals?

    Stochastic for flexo

Hello Just wondering if any of you are successfully running stochastic dots using the flexo process, and perhaps what challenges you face and what the overall results are like compared conventional screening.

Anyone upgrade from Nexus to AE10?

Does this mean SmartMarks in ArtPro, by any chance?

Thanks! That does work well. It is even Smart if you use the Calculator formulas. Cheers!

    Question for Plato gurus

Hey Plato guys I've got a new layout to do, and having trouble figuring out how to do some of the marks as Smart Marks. The layout, for the sake of argument, is 20 across by 4 around. I'm trying to do microdots only in between columns 2 & 3 and 18 & 19, in between every row except excluding the...

Dealing with screened 1 bit tiffs in ArtPro to Nexus

Actually, I think I figured it out. Earlier in this thread someone mentioned about matching the resolution. That seems to be the case here. It rescreens it if there is a resolution mismatch. Also, it only seems to work using the "Assemble Separation" task rather than the "Assemble Screened TIFF"...

Dealing with screened 1 bit tiffs in ArtPro to Nexus

I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong... it must be a workflow thing. I'm pretty sure that it is pulling the high-res tiff data, since the edges are not all bitmappy and staircased like they would be it it was getting preview-resolution date, but it is definitely rescreening. I'm attaching a...

Dealing with screened 1 bit tiffs in ArtPro to Nexus

I have tried this, merging files with DotSpy, stepping the Link EPS in Artpro and ripping with Nexus, but it always seems to be re-screening the TIFFs!!! How have you gotten around this?

    Nexus workflow help

Wow. That's pretty cool. I had no idea DotSpy could do that! Do the high-res versions have to remain in the same place for the link to work?

    Nexus workflow help

Hello all I need some Nexus workflow help... I'm not sure if it can be done or not, but I'd like to build a Page workflow in Nexus which would combine a set of separated 1-bit TIFFs into a single low-res Link file, which could then be stepped in ArtPro. I'm not much on building workflows from...

    TIFFs... What's the difference...

Thanks for the great answer. What applications are typically generating TIFF/IT? I don't see it as an export from Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, Acrobat, or ArtPro.

    TIFFs... What's the difference...

Hey all I was wondering... what's the difference, in pre-press workflow terms, between TIFF/IT and 1-bit TIFF? or is there a difference? I understand a color job supplied as 1-bit TIFF would be separated (a separate TIFF for each color), screened when screening is necessary, and therefore...

Changing one of the base colors on Nexus RIP 8.1 Automatically

Re: Changing one of the base colors on Nexus RIP 8.1 Automatically If you purchased PitStop [http://www.enfocus.com/product.php?id=855] , which is an add-on to Acrobat, you could easily set up a saved action to do this conversion every time and RIP the resulting PDFs.

Printing transparent overlays on Epson 9600

Re: Printing transparent overlays on Epson 9600 My experience with this is when running two different machines, one with film and one with paper. When running a paper proof with an overlay, the overlay usually does not fit precisely. I assumed that it was simply the feed length calibration was...

    Extended Gamut proofing

Re: Extended Gamut proofing JIm Thanks for the link. I found this to be very interesting, especially for a system that I'd never come across before. One of the files you could download from AbsoluteProof is particularly relevant to this discussion... it's a 2007 roundup of RIPs and proofers...

    Extended Gamut proofing

Re: Extended Gamut proofing So a press printing CMYKrgb or Hexachrome will have a gamut reproducible on a CMYK proofer? Sorry... it sounds doubtful to me, even pigments/dyes/printheads considered.

Printing transparent overlays on Epson 9600

Re: Printing transparent overlays on Epson 9600 The quick fix would be to calculate how much it is stretching, and then re-output it with unproportional scaling to bring it back to the length it is supposed to be.

    Extended Gamut proofing

Re: Extended Gamut proofing Thanks to all who responded... I definitely have some good ideas for my research. I'll let you all know what transpires. Interesting point, ArtproPro, about the bronzing, because HP addresses this directly in the Z3100 literature, stating as a feature... "Superior...

    Extended Gamut proofing

Re: Extended Gamut proofing I never said we are printing on a CMYK press. We are looking at printing Extended Gamut, ie. hexachrome or Opaltone or CMYKrgb, therefore we don't want to be limited by the gamut of our proofing.

    Extended Gamut proofing

Hey all Just wondering if anyone is using any proofers beyond the usual C-M-Y-K-LC-LM and also which ones give the widest gamut. I know HP has a 12-colour (Light Cyan, Magenta, Light Magenta, Yellow, Red, Green, Blue, Light Grey, Grey, Photo Black, Matte Black, Gloss Enhancer) model now...
