    Who images plates?

We used to have one guy dedicated to making plates, taking care of processor, etc. Just recently it has changed. Now, the Prepress/Pressroom Supervisor and our 2 prepress operators (myself included) are all responsible. Our Supervisor, so far, seems to be handling the bulk of it. When he's off...

Rampage v13 to XMF or Prinergy.

We have recently looked at Sierra, xmf, and Equios. So far we're leaning toward xmf. However, I would like to investigate Prinergy, Prinect and Apogee. I'm really searching for a hybrid workflow in which all prepress operators can set up digital and offset jobs using same workflow. Right now...

Changing workflows. Rampage -> Xitron Sierra?

Hi mnorman, We are also a Rampage shop looking for a new workflow. We have had a demo of Sierra - they told us we could not trap edit manually nor could we apply a different trap width to a metallic ink without using their packaging software. Maybe I'm getting bad information. Can you select an...

Looking for a new prepress workflow...any suggestions (good and bad)?

Wow - that is large. We're 23x29 sheetfed commercial with a handful of digital printers. We run a little bit of everything. Saddle-stich and perfect bound material: calendars, annual reports, catalogs, etc; specialty die cutting, foil stamping, embossing along with a little bit of packaging. I...

Looking for a new prepress workflow...any suggestions (good and bad)?

Macdevin Good to know - looks like I'll need to add Esko to my list. So it can handle packaging issues such as die lines and spot varns but also automate impositions for saddle-stitch and perfect bound books with the ability to apply creep? What about handling dutch-cuts and ganging odd sizes...

Looking for a new prepress workflow...any suggestions (good and bad)?

We currently are looking as well. Just had a demo of Xitron's Sierra yesterday. Need to still evaluate a few others. Features we liked: integrated dynamic impo, Adobe PDF Print Engine, and ability to view dot after plate curves are applied Features we use in Rampage that don't seem to be...

    Sierra Migration - Other Alternatives?

Hi, I realize this is an older post so I'm not sure if I'll get a reply but… We are a Rampage shop who is considering Sierra. I'm curious if you upgraded your system to Sierra or went with another. Whichever workflow you chose, how are you liking it? Just looking for alternatives as well...

    Hyphen ImpoProof Reviews

Thanks everyone for your input – very helpful! I think until its seen in action, we won't have a clear idea of the time it takes to reload paper and how much paper waste there is. We aren't a book printer and we don't proof several jobs at one time. It sounds like a great proofer for large jobs...

    Hyphen ImpoProof Reviews

Thanks for the info. It seems like the cost to maintain it would be more pricey than the DoubleProof – needing twice as many ink cartridges and printheads on hand. If I'm proofing via a Sierra or xmf workflow I wouldn't need to be concerned about software interface-right?

    Hyphen ImpoProof Reviews

Hi, We're thinking about replacing our HP DoubleProofer with a used ImpoProof 8000. Does anyone have any experience with this proofer? Reliability, ease of use, maintenance, etc… Seems like the last time I saw one was in Chicago many moons ago. Thanks, Lester

Automatic Ink Reduction Software / GCR

cosnet, How, exactly, does Ink Saver integrate with Rampage Ink Drop? Also: Does ink saver flatten PDF files before optimizing? Does ink saver use device link profiles or standard icc? Thanks for your input!

Automatic Ink Reduction Software / GCR

I am currently researching CGS InkSaver and GMG inkOptimizer. I am aware of the benefits of such software, but now need to determine which will be a better fit for our workflow. I am searching for opinions from experienced users of either solution: what they like best about their solution...
