Konica C6500 - Calibration, weird curve on cyan

Hi to all who have been checking this thread... The technician changed out the developer unit and developer today; still the same inverse yellow curve. He then swapped in a new laser and no difference. Same curve. I got an ES-1000 from a commercial printer we know and tried measurements with...

Konica C6500 - Calibration, weird curve on cyan

@Emtri: Sure, I've attached an image to help illustrate what I'm seeing. Where the yellow bars appear is where prints (which have a heavier yellow component) exhibit banding. It could be that either there is too much yellow being put down in those areas or not enough in the other. Either way...

Konica C6500 - Calibration, weird curve on cyan

Hi Emtri, Not Konica direct, but from a Konica authorized reseller/company. Just over 700,000 clicks right now. That's 4 years of clicks, we're low volume. No we didn't. We're not colour critical; as long as it's close we're good. A large commercial printer we know has the same machine and...

Konica C6500 - Calibration, weird curve on cyan

Hi Darrell, Thank you for taking the time to reply and for the information on the C6500. One thing I didn't mention in my initial post, is that this is not a new machine to us. We've had it for 4 years now (new-out-of-the-box) and it is only recently that I've started to get the flattening of...

Konica C6500 - Calibration, weird curve on cyan

@Emtri: Yep, I use the 34 patch randomized and I always configure the paper and calibrate to the stock I'm going to run. I restore the device to default on each calibration as I read somewhere else (I think on these forums) that not doing so ends up applying a curve on top of a curve on top...

Konica C6500 - Calibration, weird curve on cyan

@ShortRunMagazines: Thanks for your feedback. Yeah, I was calibrating to Husky Offset. But I see the same curve on cyan for all stocks I calibrate to (Cougar Digital Smooth, Productolith Digital Cover, and others). The tech is actually here right now and I was showing him the yellow as it...

Konica C6500 - Calibration, weird curve on cyan

Hi All, A few months ago I noticed that our cyan goes flat towards the end of the calibration curve. Our tech has looked at our machine, we've had charger, drum, and developer unit changed out... but the odd curve continues. Any one here seen this sort of thing before or might know what the...

Looking for Optimal C9650 settings for laser plate printing

Hi graficworx, We've been using an LJ5000 with Myriad2 and we didn't have to prep or wipe the plates after imaging. They printed clean, aside from the a stray toner dot or two which wasn't a concern. We'll try that out to see if it cleans it up.

Looking for Optimal C9650 settings for laser plate printing

Hi UnlimitedBT. So I should take cover stock (say 10pt, c1s)m cut to plate size and run a sample on it? I should be able to see the toning problem on this print? This is a brand new printer (only 1 week old) and new drum. It could be a defective drum. Are the drums interchangeable on the unit...

Looking for Optimal C9650 settings for laser plate printing

Hi Guys, Thanks for the replies. I was away from the office the last few days, sorry for the late reply. Where do you make these settings? On the printer itself, in the print driver or both? The problem we're experiencing is heavy background toning. Not sure how to describe it, but... the...

Looking for Optimal C9650 settings for laser plate printing

Hi, I'm hoping the C9650 owners who use it to image laser plates can point me in the right direction to configure the C9650. I've found stuff online but we're still getting a fair amount of toning on the plates (we use Genie, Myriad 2). We've been using an HPLJ5000 and get very clean plates...

Help: Xante Myriad 2 Plate with HP Laserjet 5000

Hi everyone: We've been running Xanté Myriad 2 plates through our HPLJ5000 for the last 3 years. I routinely do fuser maintenance and cleaning of the HPLJ5000, but we continue to get stray toner dots on our plates. The light ones aren't so bad, but we get larger dots sometimes which are...

HP 5000 with Paper Plates Any Recommendations?

@trackprint: What we did was... I configured the printer's ROUGH paper setting with a fuser setting of HIGH. Then when we print to Xante plates to the HP5000 we choose ROUGH for paper type in the print driver setup. We did this so we could still use it [HP5000] for regular paper for the odd...

    KM 6500 - printing "restart"

@suess We experience a similar problem in our high capacity feeders using a custom size paper. For us, it would print and then just stop and sit there saying "Press Start to Restart". It turned out that it would misfeed in the tray, but only enough to generate the "Press Start" message and not...

Q: KM C6500 - Density Variation Across Print

Hi UberTech Thanks for replying. I showed our tech your reply and he's going to inquire about the modified write unit for the C6500. I hope it helps. I've tried the various screens and they all, unfortunately, exhibit the problem. But worth trying nonetheless. Thank you!

Q: KM C6500 - Density Variation Across Print

Hi All Our C6500 is exhibiting density variation across the width of the page and from some other posts I have found on here this appears to be an "issue" with the C6500. Our tech has been working like mad to find a solution, but so far no luck. The problem for us (commercial printing, sort of...

    C6500 w/ Fiery IC-303 - Screening Choices

I've been following the posts and good information coming through; this is great. I've tried the Dot2/Type2 and it looks really nice on some of our print jobs, as Ubertech said it would look better on some than others. As suess mentioned, text isn't as smooth; but the trade-off on some jobs is...

    C6500 w/ Fiery IC-303 - Screening Choices

Thanks UberTech. I'll do a bunch of trials using the information you provided and see the results for myself. Ah, I wondered about that. That's good to know. Indeed I will. I have several prints we've done recently, varying from photographic to line-art, etc. I'll run the various screens and...

    C6500 w/ Fiery IC-303 - Screening Choices

To the C6500 expert users & techs... We have a C6500 Pro w/ Fiery System 8 v1.1, been running quite well. Banding issues, which get annoying, but overall a decent machine. It's our first color printer so we're learning as we go and changing how we do things as we go. Could someone explain to...
