    Problem whit Adobe PDF Printer

Also, when working in Indesign, don't print to PDF but use the export as PDF option. This gives you far greater control over your PDF output.

    Newbie VDP help

Using this: Creating a Virtual Postscript Printer in Windows using Ghostscript you can setup a virtual printer. This will output to raw postscript. With the Adobe Postscript Red Book (Language Reference) it's doable to make some sense out of it, and even add in extra postscript. Since...

    Newbie VDP help

Automatically adding a layer of data to a PDF is quite easy using opensource tools, or even scripted using your favorite Adobe® tool. But I would consider checking to see if your RIP/printengine supports postscript or similar language. You could even put in a postscript processor in between...

    HP Indigo Color Management

same behaviour at our site; we process all sorts of rgb input without an issue. We use the hp production pro print server ('matrix') rip from hp, which basically is a cluster of harlequin rips.

Can the paper coating be changed while printing on an Indigo?

Indigo can print a 'digital matte' (as hp calls it) using a transparent ink. It provides a silky, nonglossy look on glossy substrates. Its an option on indigo presses just as an extra pms color or digital white (on 7000, 7200ws and 5500) Tobias

    Help understanding RIP software

No, if you feed a raster image, it basically means you've already RIPped your data. So you still need something rasterizing (e.g. a RIP) but at a different point in your workflow.

PC vs Mac for VDP processing

I seriously hate desktops for my vdp work. If you read into it enough you can prepare your vdp jobs in raw ppml and process those on a real server, keeping your desktop clear for facebooking or random lolcat-photo-surfing, and not requiring you to drink excessive amounts of coffee because you...

PPML issues; request for RIP test by others

is there noone out there with a rig that'll rip PPML files and 5 minutes of spare time? :(

    Xerox NeverTear

really agree with ajr on this one. Their stuff, their problem. Thats what your service contract is for. Also, paperweight shouldnt influence colors that much; just the transfer pressure is altered and I dont think that should change color rendition because of the multiple-transfer-nature of most...

I need to print 2.5 million invoices per month HOW I CAN DO THAT

VDP here is key; so use a digital press as a 'dumb' printer, with all the bonus that digital offset gives you over their desktop nephews (websheet, etc). For volumes like these in FC i'd advise an HP Indigo 7200 WS if you need doublesided variable. If not, there are cheaper presses out there. I...

    Harcore VDP

Well, its a bit of both. Basically we first write (prototype) PPML by hand (using the spec PODi released) and then write software (mainly PHP and Python) which then are able to create a larger PPML job based on what we just learned while prototyping (positioning, page order, etc). So yeah, we're...

PPML issues; request for RIP test by others

*kick* :) Can someone please just simply download my PPML and see if their RIP eats it up, and post the output? Thanks :) (http://pastebin.com/Qcix6LZx)

    Harcore VDP

I dont like doing this sort of stuff in Indesign, with some shabby plugin which requires lots of manual work (prone to mistakes!) and lots of wait/coffee for large datasets. Thats why we use PPML. With PPML and JDF we can do all sorts of tricks. For instance, we can reference to...

PPML through Fiery prints color bars/ registration marks - Check PPML does not

can you post your PPML (using pastebin.com or put it somewhere online)? If your PPML requires assets (EXTERNAL_DATAs) to RIP properly, remove those, or put them somewhere as a zip (perhaps in lowres) :) I'll try to see what's wrong with it. :)

PPML issues; request for RIP test by others

No; CheckPPML Pro does not support impositions. Which is, on itself, the only reason we use PPML in the first place; dynamic impositions that we can generate using XML tooling. I am aware of the tooling and the complete spec of PPML. My PPML is OK according to the spec. But still, it gives weird...

PPML issues; request for RIP test by others

Thanks for the link, didnt know Harlequin provided a demo version. I dont think it's going to make a difference though, since the RIP engines in the HP Matrix RIP system are actually rebranded Harlequin RIPs. But i'll try and see what happens :-) thanks. -edit- Hm. That version does not...

PPML issues; request for RIP test by others

Hi guys, I'm currently developing a product for prepress. For this, I made some PPML (as every time; we do all our impositionings in PPML so I usually have no difficulty with this). But this time, I got strange results. And now I am wondering if someone else can try RIPping this document to see...
