    Don't Care

I would have to agree with Sustainable. I have been using Amerikal's products for many years now with great success. They are environmentally friendly and safe as far as health concerns. As far as production efficiencies I have not found anything that can beat them. We are a high end...

Do Printers Still Need Service from their Ink Supplier ? ?

"My shop just went through period where our press sheets were running way too warm compared to the proofs." MacTwidget It does sound like your ink company came through for you to fix your problem but my concern would be why did it every happen in the first place. In my mind the incident you...

    Fogra New Testing Procedure

Yes, if they wouldn't we would have bought a different press. We made it clear to them it was a deal breaker. Bottom line, once they realized we had done our home work they remembered they were in the business of selling presses and not Fogra consumables.

    Fogra New Testing Procedure

We have German 40" presses. We let the manufacture know at the time of purchase if we were going to be forced to by a Fogra solvent we were not going to by their press, we don't use a Forga solvent, enough said. We have very tight restrictions in CA. Our solvent passes them all hands down.

    Fogra New Testing Procedure

Dan, I was reading this article and could not pass up your statement. "Unless people are willing to wash their blankets and rollers with mayonnaise (or some other emulsified oil product) I see little alternative to the use of some sort of solvent. Alois Senefelder likes this." Daniel T Roll I...

Chemical useage & its effects on workers

It has been my experience dealing with chemical vendors that they are clueless on the toxicity of their products. They may know if there chemistry meet any local regulation like we have here in CA but they don't know or care how what they are selling affects the user. When I question one of...

    Opinions on H.R. 2715

Cpisa Cpisa Green Printer thanks for the link to this video clip. I completely agree with you. It seems like any attempt to clean the printing industry up and make it safer and cleaner for employees the Printing Industries fights. I have seen it in CA with the 100 gr./lt. or less VOC...

I have been sitting back reading how you are have been having fun with A BETTER WAYS claims. They are not too far off the mark. This printing system A BETTER WAY is talking about does exist and is in use on a daily basis. I use it everyday in a high end commercial shop. It is considered a...

    Ink charging

We are somewhat new to digital print and we have a couple grand format roll to roll printers. I am wondering how other companies track/charge for their ink consumption. Does ink get job costed for every job? Is there some mechanism on the printers that keeps track of the ink usage? Is ink...

    High Fidelity Printing

Is there proofing software out there able to proof these extended color gamuts accurately? I have always heard it is very difficult to get a prepress proof to look like the press when using Hexachrome.

    FDA Approved UV Gloss coating

Rhino, From my understanding in order to have a UV coating that can be used for direct food contact it has to be fully cured. Having a UV product cure fully is not just related to your product but also the lamps being used. I have not heard of any UV product that is capable of a full cure...

    Opinions on Van Son Ink

Printmaster07 I have heard the same kind of thing about these ink companies in the US buying their ink from over seas. Due to the economy they are buying their ink from over seas and private labeling it. All they are concerned with is price. No concern for quality. It is who can cut the...
