Canon 7000 vs HP indigo 7000

Hi there, I'm a designer and print broker. I've just come back to the USA, and I'm trying to find a print supplier with an HP Indigo 7000+ for short run stuff. I sent a quote request to a company I know of in Chicago, and they have asked me if the Canon 7000 is comparable to the HP Indigo. The...

HP Indigo 3000 Pure Back Overprint

Hi guys, been a while since I was on here, but I have a question for all you HP Indigo buffs. I've been printing a small order of business cards for one client fairly frequently. I've been printing them digitally as follows: with a 100%C pattern beneath a 100%K overprint (floodcoat) to face...

Need to source magnetic print in UK

I have an enquiry for some magnetic print for resale in retail outlets. Can you source magnecote still, or are you just using existing stock? I'd be grateful if you could email me at nathan(at)thepaperchain(dot)com with company details / plant list.

Need to source magnetic print in UK

Hi there, the supply of Magnecote (and people who can print on it) seems to be drying up fast. Where can I source the stuff and/or someone who can print on it? Thanks!

KM C5501 / 6501 Jamming on Gloss Stocks

Oh god...... Sorry UberTech, I must have missed that bit. I just phoned the paper manufacturers. I have been cutting long grain SRA2 down to SRA3... I guess I'm going to have to start ordering SRA3 digital paper. I have had curling issues with uncoated stocks also. I suppose that the SRA2 /...

KM C5501 / 6501 Jamming on Gloss Stocks

I just tried running some 130 g/m2 through the bypass , it jammed on the first one with an error code of J-3202. Our engineer installed the pink rollers in the LCT to try and prevent jamming, and he attached a weight kit. ...don't think he tried increasing the DFP pressure, but I have just put...

KM C5501 / 6501 Jamming on Gloss Stocks

@rsands: Yes, the LCT has that function. I usually leave it on. Do you think it makes a large difference? @dpgate: the problem is, that doubles click costs. It's already hard enough to price competitively for digital print without double click costs looming over my head... The paper I am using...

KM C5501 / 6501 Jamming on Gloss Stocks

@JayDA: I have the pink rollers on the LCT, and the gray rollers everywhere else. @UberTech: I normally feed through the LCT or the bypass. I have the same issue with either. At first we thought that the thinner gloss stock was jamming in the fusing unit, but the jam code indicated the paper...

KM C5501 / 6501 Jamming on Gloss Stocks

Hi all, We have had a KM 5501 for a while now, and it consistently has difficulty with gloss stocks. Running even a small number (1,000 or less) of leaflets generates a significant amount of waste because of jamming. The rollers from the tray seem to slip and skid on the stock. Our engineer...

Can you tell me how to do from graphic to sketch

Yep, pen tool is the way to go. It's quick, easy, and waaay cleaner than drawing by hand. I wouldn't touch it in photoshop tho, this is an illustrator job.

Hi UberTech, I was told that you had a little book of tips available for 5501 / 6501 digital presses in exchange for a photo of the machine. Is this true? Many thanks.

    The "Glossing" option on KM6501

I was speaking to one of our KM engineers, apparently they can enable it through a div (dip? dib?) switch, but it isn't normally visible.

    The "Glossing" option on KM6501

Brilliant, I'll definitely have to contact UberTech, thanks. We just have a single C5501 actually, with an X3e-TY-210 fiery server, post inserter, the smaller booklet maker and one large capacity tray. The company has traditionally been a brokerage for niche printed products, but for the past...

    The "Glossing" option on KM6501

Roller Temperature Roller Temperature Hi, You could also increase the roller temperature by going to "process adjust" under the tray settings. From there tap next, and you'll see four temperature settings. Two for the upper roller, idle and print, and two for the lower roller, idle and print...

Photoshop | InDesign > how to preserve colors?

@ Lukas I didn't realise that an adjustment layer could push colours out of gamut. Could you please explain how I can check if my colours are out of gamut after an adjustment layer is applied?

Photoshop | InDesign > how to preserve colors?

If it is a photograph, try using curves, or vibrance in photoshop after conversion. If it is not a photo, when you choose your colours in photoshop (or illustrator) in CMYK mode, it will display an exclamation point when you go outside the bounds of CMYK. Watch for this when selecting colours...
