    Back up systems?

    Couldn't agree more. Space on our server is minimal and backup was just another selling point for our provider. A couple of external HD's solved that. Our IT GURU even coded a nightly dump. Great and powerful OZ that he is.

    Thank you Gaz. Although it wasn't simple, one of our best investments in the past 15 years was going to UV. With the proper set-up UV can make a big difference in the type and quality of forms you produce.

    Quark vs. Indesign

    What you're describing sounds like a difference in postscript output. If you define a PDF standard and apply it accross the board at least you know you're being consistent. Quark "shall I say" is a little bit "Quarky" but can still achieve the same results as ID (albeit in a very round-about way)

    Conundrum

    We have a client that demands 60% post recycle. Even prints a blurb at the bottom of the form relating that fact. Paper certainly isn't the industry it used to be and it's become quite environmentally friendly in the last few decades.

    Not sure what Adobe was thinking with "ID five and a half" but if your transparency effects are working no problem between 4 and 6 and kerning and tracking of text translates without re-flow, then you're golden. ID does that. Certain other DTP products "which shall remain un-named" cannot say...
