3302 Ink Sweep HELP NEEDED!

Hi everyone,

I have just started a new job running a 3302H 2 weeks ago and yesterday I realized that the ink fountain roller is sweeping when the ink ducter is in contact with the transfer roller, not the ink roller as it should. After taking the cover off I noticed a brass gear with the cam arm and I am thinking the gear it self is out 180*. Is this possible? After speaking to there other pressman they were both saying that they always felt something wasn't right since they bought it.

Thanks for your help!

Ronny,
Congrats on running a real press and not that digital crap being forced down our throats. I have serviced Ryobi’s for many years and yes it is possible the gear is 180 degrees out. Products made in Japan are not as perfect as some people profess. I have had wrong cams installed and software not right and many other issues wrong from the factory.
Are both units out of time or just one? That shaft also drives your oscillators so verify the timing there also.

Can you say more about what to look for in the timing of the oscillators?

When I was first offered the job I was worried more about the water system then anything else. Turns out its not to bad but I just couldn't get any ink on the rollers. Now that I think we found the cause of it we will be able to mill the ink much better there for it will lay down nicer on the paper. It it a nice press to run if it is set up right in the first place.

I will keep you updated on this once we have the teck in next week!

Ronny,

Are you sure you have the switches set properly on the front console to pre ink the machine? The 3302H has ink ductor lock out solenoids that control this function.

Um I don't think it is the switches because I can clearly see the ducter on the tranfer roller when the ink roller in turning.

The oscillators will be fine with the gear turning 180*. That said I spoke with thee tec today and he will be in to fix it next week. Damn tec's taking vaction at this time of year.....

I like them change in the open part of the plate cylinder when each form is there.

To fix it all we did was punch the pin out and turn the gear 180* and now the sweep works just fine. When I was running before I was at about 8, now it is running at 4 to 5. Paper is now flat as it comes off the press.
