Action List to check for any CMY set to overprint (and possibly fix)?

Hi guys,

Usually I would be able to find somebody else's similar problem and amend the Action List to do what I need, but in this instance I'm really struggling trying to work out how to set an action to do what I want.

Basically, we have had a customer supplied PDF that had layers upon layers of a yellow and magenta logo all set to overprint sat on top of a very faint background containing a small amount of cyan. This has had the undesirable effect of then adding a green tinge to the yellow background when printed which unfortunately wasn't spotted before the job hit press.

Does anyone have any clue as to how to set up a Pitstop Action to check and warn for any CMY elements overprinting within a PDF?

Any advice or help would most gratefully appreciated.

Bit of a weird one.
Thing is, overprinting CMYK is a bit of a special case. The only way a CMYK channel underneath shows through is if one of the separations above is 0% (OPM1), that then lets the channel underneath come through. The problem here is actually a design issue as the overprint has been deliberately set, allowing the cyan to come through.
They would have seen that if the overprint viewing settings had been correct.

It was a one-in-a-million problem that everyone here on the Pre-Press side of things could see was down to whoever designed the job, unfortunately though, the higher-ups wanted to find a magic bullet to spot the issue the next time it pops up (presumably after the next 999,999 jobs have passed through ).
