anyone know what a roller chiller temp. should be set at?

Our roller chiller has been acting up as of late. Does anyone know the proper temp it should be set at? We have a setting for zone water temp and a chiller water temp.
The unit itself was made by applied web solutions and they are no longer in business.

I always tried to shoot for temperature stability, If your zone temperature is set too cold, you will start with cold rollers and the temperature will increase throughout the run, If your chilled water is too cold, any metal parts that the water goes through may sweat, causing water to get into unwanted places.

I suggest setting the zone control at 75-80 degrees F and chilled water a little colder at 60-65 to start with, the zone control is there to keep the inker at the same temperature whether it is a cold startup or continuing a long run.

You may have to adjust the chilled water temperature to achieve the desired temperature stability.

Also your ink supplier should be able to give you some more specific numbers for ideal temperatures, If you have a zone control for each inker, ask for numbers on specific inks / colors as well.

If your chiller unit is giving you problems, one of the first things to check is the condenser(s), and the condenser fan. The condenser looks like a car radiator and the fan pulls the air through it, if it is clogged with dirt / spray powder, or whatever and the airflow through it is down, the refrigeration will not work as efficiently.

Watch out for the dew point. If the surface temperature of your rollers is equal to, or below, the dew point you will experience stripping and ink water balance issues as moisture from the air will condensate on the roller surface.

its a 6 color Mitsubishi.
thanks for the reply service tech that is really close to where our setting are now.
whats happening is that the system works fine until it runs thru its first cycle (cools and shuts compressor down) it just heats up from this point unless we turn it off and back on.
had the HVAC guy out here many times now.
condensor fan has been cleaned, system has been charged, one new time delay switch... and still no luck

Not sure how you chiller works but the one on our SM52 has a flow sensor. If the flow sensor does not have sufficient water flow it will turn the compressor off. It looks like a solenoid with water connecting tubes with a plastic tongue that moves from the water pressure
