Aqueous Coating on any press?

I was surfing thru Ebay and ran across an ad for an aqueous coating kit that claimed :

"Aqueous coat on any press that has a chain delivery and a spray powder attachment. Easy to use paste works much better than the older liquid type coatings. Turns a printing unit into a coating tower with no modifications! Coat offline or online with multi-unit presses. Runs dry without a dampening system while still allowing spot coating capabilities. Dries super fast with better gloss, rub resistance and does not yellow as compared to varnish. Kit includes 8 pounds of gloss coating, coating cleaner concentrate, roller deglazer, retarder and instructions - everything you need to aqueous coat. Coating will coat approximately 3000 square feet per pound."

The Ebay item Number is: 330291067656

Any body have any experiance with this or a similar product running on either a ABD 9800 or a Ryobi 3302?

It is probably the same as kentucky shine. Kohl and madden sells this product. There are other vendors that sell similar products. If it is the same as Kentucky Shine you need to keep the press running practically all the time. There is a product you spray on the roller to slow drying on the rollers. The deglazer for the rollers is cause the stuff is a pain to get out totally. Most coaters have extended delivery for additional heat knives and IR heat. These allow the aqueous to dry allowing you to use minimal spray powder. Without the extended delivery you have to pump up the powder and it gives a sandpaper feel instead of super slippery.

How far do you need to eztend the delivery for good drying/min powder? Would an envelope out feed conveyor work?

I doubt that would work. It wont deliver and jog nice. A good IR drier and sprayer would be key and lots of practice. People that use this all the time get good at it. Cleaning the press is key. If a roller deep in the roller train does not clean up it takes a lot of ammonia and scrubbing to get it off.

An excellent product is the Nicoat Ink Train Coating, both the gloss and satin paste. Runs great and looks great. You do not need driers or an extended delivery on your press. Use their Retarder for washing up, can be diluted with water.

ive used this ink roller coating on a heidy with a short delivery. i was able to get decent results but as someone else mentioned youve gotta keep the press moving. you need to start up and change loads quickly. also it should be noted that if your drying without air knives you need a infared dryer that comes up to tempature quickly or you will be blocking the first hundred or so sheets every time you start up

The press should be stopped if waiting for a color OK or having feed trouble. Also the Ink Train Coating DOES NOT require heat to dry only air. Also it is recommended to use 30-35 micron spray powder. Call Nicoat yourself and ask for "Instruction for using Generation III Ink Train Coating". It is well spelled out.

can it be used on single color GTO52 safely, i also use this machine for full color printing
also got Fuji58 thinking seriously to use it for coating

GHETTO! That is the worst way to coat.

" GHETTO " ? Ink train coatings, have been around for a long time, and they are a great way to coat if your press is not equipped with a tower coater. Some people do whatever it takes to get the job done, apparently you do not.
