Aqueous lines

We are getting lines when Aqueous coating is applied. Gloss it does not show, Satin Aqueous its slightly visible and Dull it really shows. Attached is an image of Dull Aqueous. Anyone know what is causing this? Bad roller perhaps?

Some more info would be helpful.
Most modern coaters are anilox/doctor blade, not slip/nip roller.
Are you applying from a blanket or a flexo relief plate?
Are the lines in the same direction (parallel) to sheet travel?
Is base sheet litho printed or is it digital?

What type of coater do you have on press? Is it roller or Anilox?

You can minimize the streaks by doing a 180 on the sheet and running it back through, just to save the job.

In the meantime, please provide the press and coater type information for a better technical response/advice.

We have a 2 roller system and the coating is being applied by a blanket. It's a Heidleberg SM 102 press.

Is the coating inside the drum being thoroughly stirred/mixed/agitated prior to pumping?
The matte/dull agents are heavier solids and tend to settle to the bottom.
Roller coaters don't apply as thick of a film as an anilox.
Do you know your coat weight as measured on a scale on an aluminum foil strip?
It's been a week since the original post. What is the status of that job?
Did a 2nd pass (turned 180%) help hide/cover the streaks?

Yes, the coating is being stirred well.

We've applied dull & satin for years, no changes and now suddenly this is happening.

We do not measure the coating weight using a foil strip.

This project has been delivered. Luckily, the pattern is only visible at certain angles. It was too large to run though the press turned 180%.
