audio file name problem

No matter what software I use to burn an audio CD - the name of the tunes is turned into "Audio 1" "Audio 2" etc.
I.e. the track name is lost.

Is there any way to preserve the track name when burning an audio CD?

thx, gordon p

Your burning software has to be able to use CD Text (Nero does) and of course the drive you use to play it also has to support CD Text. Look at it in Windows Explorer or the Mac Finder though will still show as Audio 1, Audio 2, etc...because the Windows and Mac OS do not support CD Text. (At least that is the way it used to be. It's been awhile since I've tried it though)

It's been a while for me as well, and I agree with what Joe had to say in his post.

I've burnt a few CD-TEXT audio CDs to use in my Car's 12 disc CD changer which was capable of reading CD-TEXT. It worked fine on my car, but as Joe indicated, the track names were not available to any of my Windows or Mac media players. This was about 10 years ago, things may have changed?

Here's a couple of links that might be helpful?

Gordo,

Have you tried iTunes? Unless I'm mistaken, you should be able to go into the advanced preferences and there should be a "CD Text" option when burning audio CDs.

Thanks to all.

Like a fool I tried several CD burning apps (Burn 2.4.1, Liquid CD 2.08, Express Burn, etc.) - they all lost the track titles and converted them to Audio 1, Audio 2, etc.

Then as Oxburger suggested I tried iTunes (an app that I hate). The instructions in the Help file for iTunes did not sync with the menu options (i.e. It said burn controls were in advanced preferences - but they're not).

Anyhow, finally got it to work and now the track titles show up on the CD.

It's practically 2011 and something that should be simple like include the file name with the file is still so bloody complicated. Aaaaargh!

Thanks all! Gordon p
