Owners, CEOs and members of the Bavarian printing organization VDMB, recently made a week-long trip to Silicon Valley California, visiting IT & high-tech firms such as Google & LinkedIn. As the voice of the German printing industry, VDMB is geared to a central mission: to sustainably strengthen the competitive power of its member companies in the rapid transformation of the media markets.
In addition to high-tech firm visits, the group also spent a half-day at Everett Graphics—an environmental, folding carton printer—touring their 82,000 sq.’ facility and seeing highly-automated Koenig & Bauer presses in action: a Rapida 106, 41” & a Rapida 145, 57”. The newest Rapida press allows Everett to run e- and f-fluted materials, giving them the ability to print high quality, offset work, directly onto micro-flute substrates in large format—of great interest to the Bavarian group. Koenig & Bauer representatives were also on site. The meeting ended with a light lunch.
