As a child in the 70ies of the last century about 30-40 year old teachers told me in Germany at school about Martin Luther King´s „Dream“ and i took with me for the rest of my life that he was side by side playing in the same league with Mahatma Gandhi as the (may be only) both most integer and worthiest to be respected and last but not least with outstanding intelligence political acting people i have ever read, listen, seen (in television documentarys) and heard about ever since then…

I am quite sure, that Dr. Martin Luther King would not be amused to see himself misused for a „cultural message“ in which is declared what is wrong with an other religion like the islam to push up a bad mood against them and divide his nation furthermore and which is shared in a silly affirmative way with feeling harassed by the current political and economic circumstances and finding themselves victimized by it to their own impotence in the face of the complexity of the prevailing problems consciously longing for a leader who serves their comparatively (not only with Martin Luther Kings) lower instincts.

Now it seems me, the childs in the US have to learn totally wrong lessons about morality, responsability and patriotism by getting presented a role model which only interest is to feed his own ego and economical succsess.

It is not the current president of the US or his "style" that scares me, he is just a logical accident in your cultural history, but that about half of the people of (still) a super power like the US likes and vote such a totally free of empathy character is what scares me, because it reminds to a time in Germany starting 87 years ago, where a “protected mob” (like that ones they had tried to rammed a campain bus) is on the way to determine the way of life in your villages and cities.

Yes you misunderstand, it is a plea for peace!!!!! MLK wanted peace and I loved his words. Face facts Muslims hate Jews and infidels like myself catholic. I do not understand all this hate was the song meaning, You bring up Germany and I curse the way some Germans had a dream to be pure, I worry America is heading that way with socialism. I find your judgmental words about Trump is your version of the media reports only. I wanted to believe that in the first half of the video, I admit that I pressed play with a bit of suspicion, but then asked myself whether at least Tom Petty's singing could be accepted as an influence, until I came across this teaching that Islam includes in itself a threat l at least interpreted as a wrong message: Crazy, desperate, nasty weirdos picking only the wrong points from their “manuals” for a justification of their doings are everywhere in all groups and communities ...

Sorry, but I think, although your skills as a musician is not without any talent in my opinion, you are failed with your approach of a plea. Might be real poetry/music/art must reach a more transzendental level of a discribed or “felt” motive to carry away others with you, and there is to made a decision first, I mean, do you want to make music by expressing yourself or answering to what drives you or do you want to formulate a message and uses music as a tool for that. (exaggerated: Creating miracles or hammer teaching “propaganda”) I am not able to play any note with any instrument, but had some exhibitions of my visual art and think the “problem” is the same…

I haven't watched the video. But just reading that "Dems are the original slave owners, Reps fought to free them." Which I already knew. And I glad this is waking more people to the history. An slavery started a LONG time before there were Dems and Reps. We can go back to the Egytians when they were building the pyramids and them using the Jewish people, and I'm sure there are many more stories before that, that was never written down throughout history all over the globe. It's all about power and who seems to have it. But still the bigger issue is not slavery, it's where one person for whatever reason feels they are better than another person...that s**t needs to stop NOW! No one is better than another! I believe we are all equal. Now, we all have made certain decisions in our lives that have lead us to one place or another, but we are all the same. We have feelings, we care about someone/thing and we want to be heard and loved.

Personally I think that whenever people are stratified in groups according to some characteristic (e.g. race, religion, politics, etc) and then treated as monoliths (e.g. the black vote, the left or the right, etc.) then you are going to have problems. You are no longer dealing with individuals you are dealing with abstractions. And it's easier to commit atrocities in thought or action against abstractions than to actual individual people. It also encourages and perpetuates dualistic thinking - which is usually not a good thing. You see examples of this all the time in US (and other country) news/opinion outlets.

On a related sidebar. One thing that I've always been intrigued by is the difference in how crimes are reported in the media.
In the US - the race of the bad guy is typically stated in reporting. That, for example, subtly ties race to crime and reinforces social stratification and monolithic thinking.
In most European countries - the race of the bad guy is typically not stated in reporting. Because the race of the bad guy is usually not relevant.

Now, we all have made certain decisions in our lives that have lead us to one place or another, but we are all the same. We have feelings, we care about someone/thing and we want to be heard and loved.

Maybe that's why some people turn to crime. They'll finally be wanted.

Good discussion, I am also a German/American and suffered some name calling for that, no big deal I was not in WW2. My relatives were and fought for the USA and wounded. I take pride in the USA. I could go on about how the blue side will open our borders and tax people to provide free everything for them for the sake of votes to keep them in office,. Would you allow someone to walk into your front door and demand you take care of my family and pay for us. I am working hard to provide for my family and now my taxes go up and that will affect my Business. Look on you tube for tours of Baltimore City and see how divested we are. I have a saying "Give a Red a pile of bricks he will build a city, Give a Blue a city they will turn it into a pile bricks" take a tour and see. It is easy to live some where else in the world and criticize the USA by watching the news that is owned by Amazon, Google and Twitter etc., I live it and see the truth.

The news media here are not allowed to say what race committed a crime or a murder, But most are recorded on video now and known.
