The School of Media Sciences seeks a visionary leader with a demonstrated passion for curriculum development and organizational management in the disciplines of cross media and graphic communication. The ideal candidate will build on the legacy and work towards recruiting and retaining faculty and students, and motivating staff to ensure the school’s future.
S/he will be responsible for leading multidisciplinary faculty in the operation of the School’s BS and MS Degree programs; hiring and mentoring faculty and staff; and creating a supportive and stimulating environment for all students.
This position reports to the Dean of the College.

THE COLLEGE:
The College of Imaging Arts and Sciences (CIAS) offers programs in Art, Design, Crafts, Film and Animation, Photography and Media Sciences. CIAS has garnered critical acclaim as a leader in higher education. Its
accomplishments are peer-recognized and its influence considerable in several disciplines. It possesses the University’s highest number of national top-ten graduate rankings (photography, graphic design, industrial design, glass, and ceramics). It is one of the University’s largest Colleges, with fifteen BFA programs and four BS programs, serving approximately 2,000 undergraduate students; ten MFA programs, an MS program in Print Media, and an MST in Visual Arts-All Grades, with approximately 300 graduate students overall. Minors in Applied Imaging Systems and Media Arts and Technology are also in the College’s portfolio of academic offerings. The College’s faculty members are peer- regarded for their scholarship, creative and scientific endeavors, as well as their work as educators. Many of the College’s 137 faculty members are world-renowned for their scholarly achievements. Faculty and students, along with 62 dedicated staff members, act together to foster a unique and close-knit educational community based on aesthetic and creative innovation.
THE SCHOOL:
The internationally recognized School of Media Sciences has a strong and supportive network of over 5,000 active alumni. Graduates from this program are typically hired within 3 months of graduation.
The School of Media Sciences offers a BS in Media Arts and Technology and a MS in Print Media; both programs impart the technical and operational insights to equip students with the innovative knowledge required to produce, transform and orchestrate a range content types for a variety of media channels. The programs in the School of Media Sciences provide students with the critical-thinking skills necessary to architect the solutions required to successfully address technical and business problems in this domain.

REQUIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
• Earned doctorate or other terminal (e.g. MFA) degree in a related field. Applicants with an MS degree in a related field and extensive experience in the discipline may also be considered at the Associate Professor level.
• A minimum of 5 years of teaching experience at the university level in undergraduate and graduate curriculum.
• Graphic Communication/Publishing industry connections and relationships.
• Established record of research and scholarship including published works and conference participation.
• Higher Education administrative experience (e.g. program chair, department chair, etc,)
• Ability to contribute in meaningful ways to the College’s continuing commitment to cultural diversity, pluralism, and individual differences.
