Does anyone have any info on setting a Dahlgren water system on a 1976 Western Gear buisiness form web press? We purchased this machine late last year and there is no info on setting the system. We feel we have it close , but it would be nice to know for sure

thanks

When setting a Dahlgrens dampener there are only a few things to keep in mind. 1. Assuming this dampener is using the first ink form roller as the dampening form, make sure the form roller is tighter to the ink oscillator roller than it is to the plate. This is to make sure the form roller speed remains consistent, as the plate surface can not be trusted to be flat. 2. The pressure between the chrome roller and the form roller should be about as light as you can get it and still have the dampener operate. This is because the speed difference between the chrome roller (traveling at the slower metering speed) and the form roller (spinning at press speed) will cause this contact to drag and chatter if it is not light enough to slide or slip. 3. When running light coverage, adjust the skew mechanism until the plate looks evenly damp from one side to the other and you will rarely, if ever, need to adjust it again.
