Hi guys, I know nothing about EskoArtwork .ap files so please forgive my ignorance. A friend of mine received a .ap file from his client and wants to know if such files can be edited or transformed into PDFs for non-EskoArtworks output.

Download free ArtPrinter and you can make PDF files.
(PDF Printer or PS->Distiller->PDF needed.)

Note: You can not edit .ap files without artpro.

Download free ArtPrinter and you can make PDF files.
(PDF Printer or PS->Distiller->PDF needed.)

If editing is required, please be aware that PS->Distiller->PDF route will only give you a PDF 1.3 format file, where all transparencies are flattened and virtually impossible to edit. (Distiller settings cannot change the fact that output PostScript is always flattened data.)

For full editability, can you ask the supplier of the ArtPro file to export the job to PDF 1.4 or 1.5?

I suggest you to export the artwork to inPDF. This specific version (1.5) keeps the layers in Acobat Pro.
It is possible with ArtPrinter.
