Carbonless Prices...

For years we have outsourced the majority of our carbonless work because the specialty shop will do the whole job for less than we pay for the paper. I just wondered if everyone else was doing the same. Even on 2,000 3-part 8.5x11 forms we can't afford to run it in house just because of what we pay for the paper. We are paying $74/M sheets for 3-part 11x17 and we group our orders with another local print shop.

Is that $74/M for 1000 sets of 3-part? or $74/M for 1000 sheets (333 sets) and is that your price for the paper or for the printing that you're outsourcing. :)

That is our cost for 1M sheets or 333 sets of blank paper.

I was using Veritiv and went with another company and everything was cheaper. The only thing is the white 20-lb. The brightness is 92 and Veritiv was 97.

Might wanna try Midland Paper. We use them and they have pretty good pricing on most stuff. But theyre more regional I believe.

Just remember... there's a big difference in prices between the East Coast and anything west of (A) the Mississippi River or (B) the Rockies. (Take your pick.)

I will check with Randolph. We had been using Veritiv and Guys E Paper.
Here in Hawaii we basically have Spicers, Veritiv and Amazon. We just got a price increase effective Jan. 15 with no notice from Spicers $86.19/M for 2 pt. carbonless and $73 for a case of Double A white 20# 8-1/2x11 along with a bunch of other increases:
Tango 12 pt. C1s 18x12 $190.79/M (new price) $123.80/M (old price). We no longer get carbonless from them except on occasion as it is cheaper to order it through Amazon, though the packaging is iffy unless we order an entire carton. We get our 20# 8-1/2x11 elsewhere. We are thinking of switching to Veritiv and looking to order from the "mainland". Have you guys gotten price increases recently?

Sustainable Printing Goes Far Beyond Using FSC Certified or Recycled Paper
This informative paper on deinking: demand, principles, problems and solutions also explains why printing technologies are not all equally compatible with paper recycling systems; and why just a small fraction of printed material in the paper can cause difficulties.
