Does anyone know where I can find a Challenge 305 CRT? Ours finally died. It could be the power supply or some other internal component.

Boggs Equipment has a used Challenge 305 for sale. I'd call about pricing and see if they'd take your broken unit to refurbish and sell. Alternately, you see if you can find someone who is handy with electrical troubleshooting to check fuses and other low hanging fruit issues to see if your unit can be fixed easily.

Can you explain more? SN will tell age and might help. The old ones are tough as there are limited parts around.

It’s a ‘97 model. Challenge stopped supporting the machine several years ago. We checked the fuse and power supply but the cost to fix it was way too much.
here is an example, you can also search crt to lcd converter to hook with an external monitor, usually less than 50$

In most major cities, their should be a electric and control repair company. I would ask a vendor for a referral. We have a 1977 cutter, my tech says I should get a new one, but he keeps fixing it.

Is it the power supply? Usually you have 120 going in then 12/24/5 ??volts coming out. Some after market power supplies can get you going. Is it the screen that went bad? I replaced one long time ago on a 37" from Radio Shack was so much cheaper.

Open the face cover, look for a 2 lead wire plugs into a couple pins right at the front nearest to you, left-ish side. Wiggle it around some. See if display lights or flickers. Right next to that on the right (from memory) you'll see a couple of diodes. wiggle those with your fingers too. (Very low volts, no shock.) You just might get lucky. See if any components on that little board look scorched.

WAIT... CRT? I'm referring to the LCD built in display. If it's actually a CRT, bolted onto the top frame, that's an after market add on.Open the face cover, look for a 2 lead wire plugs into a couple pins right at the front nearest to you, left-ish side.
