I have made an action list to remove color bars, but it will fail on some PDF files. Some patches are not removed, but others are.

Try the attached, however you will need to double check before you put it live into production as I am not sure if it is bullet proof or not…
Select All
Select Trim and Bleed Marks
NOT
Select Objects Outside Region (use trim box, select objects outside region)
AND
Remove selection
In other words, select and remove everything completely outside of the trim box, except objects that could be considered trim/bleed marks (bleed objects that originate inside the trim box and extend out should not be removed).
