Cooling for die cutting after Hot foil stamping

Hi all,


We have foil stamping and die cutting machine called IIJIMA MJ1040T(from a chinese manufacturer) . After hot foil stamping, operators have to wait for 2-3 hours idle time for cooling down before starting die cutting. We try to use simple stand fan like this one but it slightly decrease this waiting time.

Any ideas ??

Hi!

Are you sure it is the temperature of the paper (or material) and not the open time of the glue?
And which problems you have during die cutting.
I am asking, because I work with cutters and die cutters as punching machines and it is always go to learn.

Hi there!

Everything (including steel blades, substrates, rubber) cannot work properly at high temperature which happens during hot stamping process. It often takes me around 3-4 hrs to wait for the machine cooling down. I am wondering if there is any way to reduce such idle time?

Thanks for the answer. Now it is more clear.

Let me tell you my understanding.
The first idea would be to isolate the hot area from the remaining machine body. This means. The heat creating element is able to distribute the heat not just to the stamping process (where you need the heat) it is as well warming up the whole machine. Iron works like an accumulator or heat buffer. First it absorbs the heat. This cost your money and then you have to wait for cooling. Is it possible to split the warm area from the machine body? Maybe you use some insolation material at holders and brackets. Or you do not mechanically connect the hot area and the machine body.
The negative side of this idea is, you need somebody who is able to change the machine without ruining it.
The second idea is to get the heat out of the machine body. Usually designers use in this case cooling fins or cooling webs. As more surface the machine body has as more heat will be exchanged to the surrounding area.
The negative side of this idea is, you need for sure some square food of surface and fans before you fell any reaction.
The third and last idea is to get a bigger refrigerator. Not for the machine. For the bear you drink during waiting.

haha... I like the last idea. It is the most relaxing and least neuron-consuming one.

I was a bit frightening if I could write this comment. It was not very helpful.

I never worked with this kind of machines. I am an instructor for paper cutter. This means I am some times struggling with the damaged paper after hot foil stamping including mechanical deformation and temperature controlled destroying. I love Champaign labels. Every sheet is different. Most of the printers know the difference between label size and image position, but do not understand where it comes from.
