Your true costs are unique to your business!

Any good cost plus print management software (MIS/ERP) should be able to deliver this answer when generating an estimate/quote:

For a unit rate, the Accura MIS uses a formula that basically looks like this for a given quote quantity (with a job potentially having multiple quantities)

Total material costs + total labour costs + total outwork/outsource costs ÷ by quote quantity

True raw material costs (substrates, ink etc.) and your true outwork costs (outsourced finishing, shipping etc.) are generally easy enough to work out.

Working out what the true labour time based hourly cost rate for in-house machine operation and operator rates can be a little more complicated. To simplify this task, the Accura MIS looks at each machine (or department or operator, the setup is flexible) as a “cost centre” that has to recover a share of the cost of running your entire business. The hourly rate for a given cost centre is worked out using a special “Cost Rate Calculatorspreadsheet that is provided with the system.

The final sell price (not cost) is the cost + markup.

Cost Plus - the Accura Ethos

Hope this helps,
