Creating and Using profiles with and Epson Stylus Photo 1400

I have an Xrite DTP41b and the Epson Stylus Photo 1400.

I want to get my proofs to match Pantone swatches on different media that I will run through the Epson. I understand I can probably create different profiles. I use different media profiles on the large format printers I use. So what software do I need to do this?
If I need to purchase a different densitometer to accomplish this, I understand.
I have seem the process happen, but I have not been through it myself.
Any and all help would be greatly appreciated.

The DTP41 is quite old, but robust. Your calibration card is probably due for a change? You can use profile maker or a similar program. Do you have any profile generating software? It may be cheaper for you to make get an ColorMunki bundled with calibration software for the printer though. Calibration software is not cheap, and usually hardware dongle to make it work.

The only software we have is the OnyxRIP software for the large format printing. SO I think the answer is no to having color profiling software.

Xrite is supposed to be coming out with their new product this quarter, i1 Profiler, and they have Profilemaker on sale now.
