Darwin Desktop VDP and (" ") marks showing up

So I saved out our Excel file as a Tab delim. text file and now when I import the tab delim. text file into Darwin, I get quote marks in many of the records that include a comma. For example, in a company name that has a comma in it like ACME, Inc. the Darwin record shows up as "ACME, Inc."

Any thoughts on how to avoid this other than manually editing the data file in Darwin?

The work is being done on a Mac using InDesign CS3 and using the Darwin Desktop plugin.

Thanks,

John

Had the same problem using a .txt file on the Mac. Try saving the file as a .dbf (dBase) file. I hope your not using Office 2008 To create your files, I just tried saving a file to double check the extension and found out that this version of Excel doesn't save files to this format any longer.

I don't know in Darwin Desktop, but in Pro when you import the data file you can select Ignore Field Quotation Marks and is easy.
