Hi, is there anyone who can tell me if it is possible to change the laser in this machine from a 635nM red laser to a 405nM violet laser so I can use this machine for violet plates, any information on this machine or a schematic would be very helpfull

I may certainly be wrong, but even if you could change the laser physically, you'd probably have all sorts of problems trying to get it to work correctly. The machine is programmed to work with one kind of laser, and may get totally confused if you put in another.

Impossible!
You need new electronics to turn On and OFF Laser diode properly
And laser optics should be changed because of different glass cover layers and beam size.
Even switching to the laser with the same Violet spectrum but more power, needs whole NEW laser block.

Thanks to everyone for your help it seams I have been sold a totally useless system unless anyone knows where I can buy plates from for this unit, I believe they are agfa lithostar lap-r type for a 5mw 635nm red laser.
