In a bid to help printers make a more informed choice when purchasing a digital press, J Zarwan Partners has published a research study that examines the Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) of Digital Presses.

Zarwan says, “When buying a digital press, it is particularly important to evaluate how they actually function”. The report examines & compares the OEE of 3 popular presses for availability, quality & performance:
  • Canon imagePRESS C10000VP,
  • Ricoh ProC9110, and
  • Xerox Color 1000i.
According to the study’s findings, the Xerox Color 1000i Press had the highest overall OEE of the 3 presses and was rated top in each of the three metrics measured. All presses produced high quality output, with the main differences being functionality, time between breakdowns and time to repair.

The greatest amount of variation in press performance was how fast the machine printed compared to its rated speed. The Xerox press printed closer to rated speed on heavier paper.
