Does anyone use a Konica MFP for light production?

We currently have a Konica C3080 as our production press but are moving into printing sticker sheets which we ideally need a second printer for. Not wanting to go down the route of a second ‘production’ grade machine I decided to try our Konica C458 that’s in our office but on the Matt sticker paper we use (eco friendly) you could rub the toner off.

Assuming it’s a matter of changing fuser temp or something, is there an option to do this on MFP’s or is it only production machines you can do it with?

Does anyone here use an MFP for light production work? How do you find it?

We used to print lots of self adhesive labels on a C454e with good results up to around 1,500 A4 labels, this being a full double stack of A4 in tray 3. The fuser ran quite hot and the first plain paper sheets printed immediately afterwards came out wet, from the melted adhesive seepage. Rollers and tyres needed regular cleaning. For some reason, immediately replenishing the tray and running more always guaranteed nasty jams.
We also had a C554 a couple of years earlier, which was terrible with lengthy runs of self adhesive labels. They wouldn’t stack on the finisher tray and without my makeshift catch tray modification, would end up all over the floor. The slower 454 made a big (positive) difference.

Thanks for that. I just saw you recently upgraded to the C4070. Congrats.

We are having a continuous problem with our c3070 at the moment where since the konica engineer replaced the belt and rollers on our fuser the fuser isn’t warming up properly so unless we make sure the printer is at proper temperature it throws up a ‘call an engineer’ error. Thankfully we’ve learnt from YouTube how to reset the switch otherwise we’d be calling an engineer every other day.

That said, I absolutely love our c3070, and my preference is to do all the stickers on the c3070 but we are moving all our label finishing equipment upstairs so hoped to get a separate machine to go upstairs as well.

You'd probably need a production machine for this. Try lying to the KM by calling the media heavier than it really is. That would ramp up the fusing temperature but it might cause other issues (such as curl) and isn't ideal.
