Hi PACH,
yes, there is bar punch (when checked Punch option during imaging preparation it makes punches but can't define the right position). Now the problem is how to utilize them. In service menu i have 0 place for bar punch and 5 customizable positions, at least what I can tell by looking at the menu. Other options (numbers 1 -9) I can't choose, one is tail punch. How do I enter the right values? As I see there are also 4 places to choose capital letters to define punch position but I don't know what do they correspond to exactly (as I recall they were L, R, M, H).
Verdan,
Has the punch bar been operating so far? You might have found out that the max image area in width (arround the drum)with the bar punch is 540
and if you are using the punches you have
to expose 1 UP all the time.
The calibration is not straight forward as you need to get the image central to the punches.
The letter H (head punch) has to be put into the system parameters
Under SERVICE UTILS---SET UP---SERVICE---PUNCH SETTINGS--SELECT TYPE OF PUNCH I.E. BACHAR (PROTOCOL) for SYSTEM NAME
For punch position:
,,H, (choose H as it is here)
To get the maximum 540mm image are you have to change the EXPOSE START :W under Plotter Setting.
Best way to do this is to create a Rectangle or a GRID is better with a size of 724x540. Expose it and keep adjusting the
Width value untill you get all the image on the film.
As I said befor the alignment of the image is NOT easy if you have not done it before.
You have to align the image to the MIDDLE hole. This is called the MIDDLE LEFT=ML
Pivot offset is what you have to find.
You start with the value of 362 (1/2 of 724mm.)
You put this value in SYSTEMS PARAMETERS -----PIVOT HEIGHT
PIVOT WIDTH parameter will be the value that you will measure between the CENTRE of the punch hole and Bottom of the image ( or Horizontal TICK mark on the film).
Now expose 2 separations and put them on the PINS with one of the separations in REVERSE,
The grids will not overlap )unless you are very lucky)
Measure the distance (error) between the 2 separations and DIVIDE it by 2 and now Add it or Subratct it from 362 and put this value into PIVOT HEIGHT instead of 362. This procedure you will have to do a few times untill both Separations are in register.
So finaly the SYSTEM PARAMETERS values will look something like this(this is an example ONLY)
SYSTEM NAME: PROTOCOL
PUNCH POSIYION;,,h,
PIVOT HEIGHT;368.1
PIVOT WIDTH;68.4
MINIMUM FILM FEED; 559
SUBSET INCLUDES
0 YES
It is a long explanation of something that trainned engineers used to do , so I am sorry if you will find it hard to understand.
You also need a very accurate ruller and microscope for final measurements.
GOOD LUCK>
