We have used Universal Type Server (or Font Reserve before that) for over a decade now.
I have always downloaded the Best Practices PDF and deleted out fonts (Helvetica / Helvetica Neue / Courier / etc) prior to Adobe installation.
For El Capitan, I did this and it caused major issues.
So, I wiped the drive and did a reinstall and left ALL fonts alone.
One week into this, I can so far report that I am having zero font issues. Maybe the Helvetica that is supplied is not conflicting with the Helvetica I get from customers?
