Embedding data from MIS into metadata of a pdf

I was hoping some database/spreadsheet type functionality is built into AE to build a list but it doesn't appear so. Looks like a lot more work is going to be required to do what I desire via SQL/Filemaker, etc.. What a bummer that the Mac version of Excel won't handle XML data import.

Anyone aware of a cool (free?) web tool that I can do this via?

Depends on what you want in a list. You can take in the info from an MIS in JDF, XML, CSV and transform the data to XML, CSV etc which you can then use??..Using SmartNames you can extract the incoming information. You can interact with database through access points.
