Epson 7890

Hello. We have an Epson 7890 and are having issues with the colors. The proofs are not matching are monitors.

This is something that just started happening recently. We have not switched paper types or ink.

Not sure how we can calibrate colors. We have never done this before. We print to a rip and then to the printer. Any ideas?

Would love some help.

Help is available when:
Specific software packages and versions.
Specific hardware (OS) and rip versions.
And lastly what could have changed about the desktop in relation to the monitors?

I think that about covers all the currently unknown variables.:)

Digital calibration problems might be similar from one product to another, but opinions in online forums rarely are. You’re probably better off contacting the manufacturer directly, or at the very least, looking for a dedicated Epson forum.

To properly nail down the color and have a complete color managed system, here is what I would suggest:
- Get an Eizo display in the CG series that will auto calibrate. If that isn't in budget, calibrate your existing display with an XRite device. The quality of the onscreen match is primarily determined by the quality of the display, not the calibration
- Perform all printer maintenance to ensure you have a stable device. Check nozzles and recheck to ensure consistent output.
- Use a high quality RIP, such as EFI or GMG. These can be easily customized to hit any print standard, such as GRACoL2013, or any custom standard, such as measured data from a press
- Verify the proofs to ensure you are hitting the target
Happy to discuss if you are looking for more guidance!
