Hi All

We have a new suprasetter with endless problems - First the encoder wheel got fluff from a cable which was touching it so the drum could not find fosition due to the cable-fluff which deposited on the encoder disc. Now we have error 7804 - Plate not detected on drum. It actually loads the plate onto the drum, grips it, turns one inch and then ejects it again - the technicians from Heidelberg also don't seem to know what is cooking. Has anybody had the problem too?

endless problems on Suprasetter ????

endless problems on Suprasetter ????

Hi , where are you locate ?
What Suprasettter version do you have , A Series or S,H .
Is that a new CTP ? . To adjust the encoder ,glass wheel, you need a special lupe, and is very very critical to find the correct position .
I think the problem is related to incorrect encoder position . Did you removed the glass disk out ?

Hi Padrao

The problem was eventually solved by the Heidelberg technician. They adjusted the time-out of the sensor which senses the plate on the drum and also adjusted the drum slightly so that it clamps the plate a slight bit deeper. We did not remove the encoder wheel as we did not know what to do really. We have had hassles with the encoder disc anyway in the sense that there was a cable which rubbed off on it as it touched the encoder wheel and subsequently all the shavings were blocking the optics.

As you can imagine these problems are very frustrating - we are located in Windhoek, Namibia and the nearest technician is in Johannesburd, some 2500 km away, flight bookings and availability are issues too and normally we are "dead" for 2 to three days which can really damage business. I hate this business of the bigger companies that all technical issues are "secret" and one is not allowed to touch etc. We in Africa quite easily take the toolbox and fix things ourselves as help is not close and the show must go on...

Recently we had some hassles with another machine and waited endlessly for technical support from overseas - by the time the guys arrived we had actually already fixed the problem - and it cost us nothing and everyone involved was a bit wiser (except the european technicians who still don't know what the problem was.

Anyway thanks a lot for the feedback and suggestion, it is much appreciated even if my reply comes a bit late.
