Europe ISO Coated Fogra27, high DMAX?

It appears that this profile has a DMAX of about 345, is that true?

This struck me as odd, since I'm so used to working in the 300-310 range.

I'm assuming by d_max you mean total ink/area coverage (CMYK Max), and yes, this older version of ISO_Coated using Fogra27 had a TAC of 350%. New version, based on Fogra39 has a TAC of 300%.

Hi, meddington.

Yes, Total Area of Coverage is what I was referring to.

Thanks for the info!

Yes the FOGRA 27 is not a good choice, I don't know why Adobe had it as a "prepress standard". It is not practical unless you have an ink save in your works system.
Would like to know what they were thinking when they made it and when they set it as standard. Also note that FOGR 27 is outdated being replaced by real world profile Fogra 39 (27 is a labratory profile and not a production profile)

ISO Coated v2 300% (ECI) is much more practical as a standard. (you can get from www.eci.org)
