excel charts in qxp6

A customer has sent us a windows qxp 6 file with excel charts. Problem is they won't update in pictures usage in qxp 6.5 on a mac. I was able to copy paste but they look bad. (i tried qxp 7 and they updated, but looked like total s**t.) Is there a better way in qxp 6? or do I have to copy paste into illus and make eps files.
I don't see how to export charts as a decent file from Excel.

Can't you print the Excel file as a PDF convert to an EPS then use that?

Thats probably what I would do, if not redraw it.
