In my opinion 'poor attitude' would be refusing to expand into an available role when asked.
'The objective' is relative to the position of the employee, i.e. the platemaker may see the objective as furthering their career and income whereas the employer/manager? may see the objective as 'more responsibility, more performance, same pay'.
Her days might be numbered if the company doesn't care to compromise about her career goals vs (you implied) pay.
It's easy to see the viewpoint of both sides. Neither is more 'right'.
