Since version 5.1 there are 2 versions of gmg colorproof (32 and 64-bit). Besides this CP 5.1 supports newest Epson printers including WT version and newest Canons and lots of other enhancements like proofing multiple standards in one job. It works on 64-bit Windows 7, just get 64-bit version of gmg CP. I would say you don't really need 8GB of RAM to run CP 5.1 even with 3 proofers. If you have DotProof or FlexoProof with 3 large proofers it may help you. GMG is so fast that on my Quad Xeon box all the processing only take seconds and I never see memory usage above 3GB. BTW. GMG is fully Multi Processor (or multi core aware) it uses all the cores. It screams also on my newest 27" iMac (4 cores). Yes it is a mac and it is not supported my gmg but I believe the best Windows boxes are Mac computers. For almost 2 years my gmg rip was Mac Mini and I do have a DotProof with 3 proofers.
Hey I can even run gmg CP on my MacBookPro laptop in Parallels if I am too lazy to re-boot in BootCamp
Actually everyone is charging today for the upgrade. Believe me that CGS and efi is charging also. Even when you upgrade from efi XF 4.0 to 4.1 you have to pay these days. You don't even want to know how much CGS is charging. It looks like there is not enough revenue from sales of new systems in today economy. I can't blame them.
Because of new support (64 and 32 bit) and Canons, Epson WT gmg is charging for the upgrade unless you fail into grace period. When did you get CP 05? If you got o5 in 2009 you may have to pay if in 2010 you should get it for free.
Best way to contact your dealer. He may tell you if you purchased o5 within grace period or not.
