GMG launched GRACoL in a Box, the easiest way for printers to install and use a GRACoL and SWOP certified proofing system.

Now, with GRACoL in a Box, any user can install the system and produce proofs to GRACoL and SWOP standards in less than an hour.

The turn-key system includes:

- A full version of GMG ColorProof with a 30-day software license

- A quick-start system restore disk, along with an instructional video on CD

- One 17" x 98" roll of GMG 250 gsm proofPaper semi Matte certified media

- A GRACoL certified proof and PDF file to compare printed results from the system to a 'known standard' proof.

Along with a Windows XP computer, the user only needs any HP Z series printer (with its internal spectrophotometer), or an Epson Model X800 inkjet printer and a spectrophotometer.

GRACoL in a Box is easy to install and operate. The user follows the CD video to install the software. Also included in the package is a disk that automatically creates settings and hot folders. The user calibrates the printer with the GMG supplied media, and starts producing GRACoL proofs. To verify GRACoL compliance, users can compare the proofs they generate to the supplied proof.

GRACoL in a box is available immediately in U.S. and Canada. For $150 US, users can acquire a package through the GMG on-line system, or through any certified GMG reseller.

and how much is it for a full license, because you know you'll need it again after 30 days.

It depends on the size of the printer as with other manufacturers. It starts with $2,750 MSRP.

So GMGs GRACol in a Box will not work with my Epson 9600?

Re: GRACol in the box

Not really since it's an older model and I think the new SWOP 3, 5 and Gracol were certified after the release of Epson 800 series printers. You could still make your proofs look like Gracol but not with the color profiles that you will get in the package.

I checked gmg website and there is a Gracol profile for 9600 using older gmg 230 paper. There is none for current semi matte 250 paper. You would have to make it yourself or hire someone.

this is a list of current SWOP and GRACoL certified systems:
