Greetings from an R&D Ink Chemist (Industrial UV, Eco-Sol, and Packaging Inks)

Hello PrintPlanet community,

I’m an R&D ink formulation chemist based in an OEM lab in Shenzhen. Our factory formulates and supplies digital inks (UV curable, water-based packaging, and textile inks) in bulk for several major large-format printer brands globally.

I've lurked here for a while and am always impressed by the high-level prepress and wide-format troubleshooting discussions. I’m not here to push sales—our business is mainly B2B bulk and OEM manufacturing anyway. I joined to bridge the gap between hardware operators and fluid chemistry.

If anyone is battling issues with:

  • UV ink adhesion on tricky substrates (glass, fluted poly, acrylic).
  • Viscosity, degassing, or starvation issues on Ricoh Gen5/6 or Kyocera printheads.
  • Ink-limit physics and custom ICC profiling.
Feel free to ask or tag me! I’d love to share insights straight from the chemistry lab. Looking forward to learning from the pressmen here as well.

Cheers,
[Leo]

I currently sublimation print glass kitchen products like tempered glass cutting boards (image is on the non-cutting side) that go through dishwashers. To save on sublimation coating, could I uv print glass to go through a dishwasher for years without major image quality loss?
